Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Hello all,
First time joining a support group.
Anyone out here who had panic disorder/agoraphobia/ocd from this and recovered ?
I used to travel at the drop of a hat, I could take a plane to Liberia with no plans and be happy. Now I map out every trip and have a difficulty being in the car for more than 20 minutes.
I think my severe anxiety started in 2018 but reached a full crescendo in Feb of 2020.
I was hardly leaving my flat for months at a time, and this wasn't due to the pandemic, but to my fear of everything, and mostly of having another panic attack in public.
I would get panic attacks going on a walk, going to the grocery store, and being in traffic and public transit. I started to avoid all of these situations, and now my world became so small.
Back in december I took a long haul flight, it was the bravest thing I did in a very long time, but going to customs and then the ride from the airport was really complicated. I usually sit quiet and try to breath. The panic attacks are horrific, so I try to avoid them.
I am working out 5 days a week, one day a week boxing, I am taking CBD, lavander pills, valeriana, passionflower, melissa, gabba, and l-theanine suppliments, I have really been making efforts. I have a psychiatrist. I have xanax, which I don't take because I really hate to live my life as a zombie. I am trying breathing techniques, to exposure therapy, yet it seems that lately, I am not making anymore progress.
I am starting to wonder if this will be the rest of my life ?
I thought, ok I can live like this, its ok for me, but I really don't want to. I want to have friends and be able to do spontaneous things again, and to go for drives and have no idea where I am going or how long it will take. I want simple things that now seem so far off.
I am losing my realtionship over this. My partner said they can't live in my tiny world anymore and that they don't know how to help me and are exhausted from my mental disorder. They are tired of dealing with this and can't, they want someone to share their life with. That has not been me.
I am leaving to find a new beginning and try to get over this.
I would like to one day be healthy, not have this.
I am heart broken now. I haven't given up hope yet, but today I am starting to feel hopeless.
Does anyone have stories to share of how you overcame you panic attacks and agoraphobia?
Thank you for reading me.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Any method you use will take effort, determination, courage, bravery and attitude adjustment. Your goal is to have a better balance naturally.
I agree with mtd's suggestion to help you find what works for you.
I've been dealing with anxiety disorder and panic attacks for over 25 years. I say "dealing with", because anxiety is a difficult thing to, overcome, as you say.
Usually, we have to learn to live with it, since anxiety is a natural thing that our bodies need to survive.
I am concerned by all the herbs you are taking. Have you let your psychiatrist know that you take those, and have you also told them the amounts that you take? Taking herbs can be tricky, and so it's best to check with a medical doctor about those. I am not saying this to scare you, I am just looking out for you.
Have you tried any kind of therapy? I talk to my therapist once per week, regarding my anxiety.
Also, keeping a journal, and writing in it often... just writing about anything, can help to calm stress and anxiety.
You are not alone!
