Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
So I'm in a good mood today. I finally got some well needed sleep. I have been doing this meditation stuff that my partner wanted me to try. My mind flies at about a thousand miles an hour. Just racing thoughts. So I can't quiet the mind like they say to. Anyone got any ideas for this? I'm on medication that's suppose to help but I don't think it's working. Also, my best friend went on a road trip last night, and low and behold, her car broke down in the middle of nowhere. So before bed last night, I promptly had a panic attack thinking of all the bad things that could happen while your car is broke down in the middle of nowhere. Thankfully she had her brother with her, but still. Today, it seems, is a much better day. Well, better then yesterday and the day before. I have had the roughest two days and survived by the skin of my teeth. No I would rather stay at home, fret over the little things there, than be outside having a panic attack because a butterfly landed on me. I mean really. Sometimes my anxiety gets the better of me over the stupidest little things, and I get so angry with myself that my partner has to talk to me so I"ll calm down. So, I just decided that today, is just an inside type day.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
I also like to do *warm up exercises* to help me calm myself before I begin meditations. A sudoku puzzle and a meditation reader are my personal faves, but I also like experimenting to keep the proverbial pot well stirred.
There are quite allot of different meditation styles out there and, equally, there is great benefit in allowing yourself to get creative in building your own, unique meditation style. Meditation is not about imitating the Great Gurus of the world. It is about getting to know and love my own self, warts and all.
Hope you keep trying, Hippo. It works if you work it and you are worth it.
