Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

We were planning on seeing our doctor in Utah to see if I have Asperger's or not but our trip was canceled. I have to wait a few more weeks or months for answers.
I had a sensory overload yesterday after spending time with my friends all day and, immediantly after, going to a big youth conference with hundreds of kids and being forced to talk to about 10 kids while there was a bunch of other kids talking. I could not keep eye contact. I just looked at their mouths. It was really stressful and after, my mom told me about someone she met who she wants me to meet and I had a meltdown. I had to sit quietly with my mom for the end of the conference because I was almost crying. When we got home, my dad, who makes wooden toys as a side business, was using an electric sander to sand the toys and I had to go to my room for a few minutes. It was the first time I actually knew I was having a sensory overload and was able to acknoledge it and leave before I had a meltdown.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
for what it's worth
the possibility of autism has come up in my own therapy sessions. i didn't pursue the possibility because the treatment didn't look too far different from what i was already receiving. it still doesn't.
Might I refer to a quote Autistic people use when Neurotypicals talk about someone else with Autism: "If you've met one person with Autism, you've met one person with Autism." Autism affects people differently. That is why it is a spectrum. Your grandson is, from what I can tell, somewhere in the higher-functioning close to the middle. Asperger's is Autism, but the highest-functioning Autism. I will be able to live on my own, I can think for myself, and, yes, I have insight. That does not mean I may not be Autistic. I do suffer from other things like sensory overloads leading to meltdowns, masking, social Anxiety, unable to have conversations without thinking about my special interests.
I have learned lately that, when I get excited, I show it very physically and have a hard time not showing it whilst those around me who are not on the spectrum are able to contain themselves. How can they contain themselves when they have learned something new and exciting about things they love? It is very mind boggling for me.
I want to see this doctor because he will not refer drugs to me. If any doctors do, I will not take them. He is the only doctor who I really trust.
No, there is not a cure for Autism. I hope there never will be because I have seen how Autism can make people strong and it amazes me to see people with Autism doing TEDx talks and YouTube channels all about their own insight and experiences.
Thank you rmb and arfie for your support and thank you mtd for commenting. I love reading other's comments and experiences.
