Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I've been a long time member of the depression group but am just joining this group now. People, like doctors, always comment on how anxious I am. I don't even feel as anxious as they seem to think I am. But. I do have it and the worst for me is social anxiety, worrying about medical things, worrying about the future and what bad things could or will happen, anxiety about being alone and anxiety as it seems to couple with depression. I also think that my anxiety is tied into the abuse I suffered during childhood and also I have a naturally shy and introverted personality and don't handle outside stimuli such as loud noises and hustle and bustle of life that well. I feel best when I am in a quiet, cool place preferable by myself or around just a few similar kinds of people.
Anyway, I have some free time today. Thought I might as well join. I need all the help I can get. I do think, though, that depression is the greater of these two problems for me.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
There really is nothing wrong with being alone. I spend time alone and it's nice. Very peaceful and quiet. I like to do yoga and meditate and do some weights. I enjoy taking the dog for a walk and enjoy the nice weather and beautiful scenery and getting some fresh air. I enjoy cooking and gardening. Keeping yourself busy is the key. Journaling is good too. Writing everything out about how your feeling and your thoughts. Well I do hope you find your balance. And welcome to the Anxiety Board.
Anyhoo. . .
In my own lifelong dance with extreme anxiety, the ways anxiety can manifest itself seem to be infinite, especially when the anxiety is repressed to the point of denial. In my own case, depression sets in when I am exhausted by the dance. My own depression seldom lasts long enough to be much of a problem. Once rested, flight and/or fight mode sets in quickly. For me, the diffs between "alone time" and "isolation" are a lifelong study. I can isolate in a crowd, but I more often disappear into the wilderness. For the past few years, I have been living on a farm, so total isolation is easier than ever. The Covid madness has me isolating like a bad dog. Keep your mask on the proper side of the property line, Maskite! ! ! My *proper social distance* is the 1/4 mile to the end of my driveway.
Dunno if any of that ramble has anything to do with your own case, or not. It is just what spilled out of my fingertips.
I mostly wanted to welcome you to the forum.
Writing it out helps to sort through everything in a calm way.
Being alone is a positive in helping to reduce anxiety overload.
Best wishes as you find your better balance.
