Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Hello, I am new to this group. I have suffered with anxiety for as long as I can remember. I am 33 years old, married, and attending graduate school. I often worry about things that I have no control over, I often stress that I've done something wrong if I don’t hear from somebody and if someone I know is stressed and I can’t do anything to help them- I stress about not being able to help them. It is a never-ending cycle. If I can turn a switch off I would but unfortunately, I'm not that lucky. People often tell me that I can't change what has already happened but yet I stress and sometimes make myself sick because my anxiety gets so bad. I sometimes break out in a sweat, and get butterflies in my stomach. I often take care of others, before I take care of myself.
On 3/24/2020 I was laid off from my job, I was stressed and felt worthless. I 've had this job for almost 15 years (basically my whole adult life). I grew accustomed to the people I worked with (they’re family), of course there were times that I couldn't stand my job, but hindsight is always 20/20. You never appreciate what you have until it's gone. I felt worthless that I didn’t have a job, intellectually I realized that that it was due to COVID-19, but emotionally I was wrecked. I felt sorry for myself and had no motivation. Perspective is something I've learned the last 5 weeks. I got a call a couple days ago, from my current employers asking me if I wanted my previous job back. I feel blessed and confused. I am now in charge of the company, and have a lot more responsibilities. I also have the choice to either hire staff that were in the office before we got laid off or to hire new people. It's a lot honestly- I’m blessed, grateful, and appreciative to work again during this pandemic where so many people have lost much more than I.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
You are far from alone in the lifelong tendency to quite literally worry yourself sick. There are quite allot of us here who worried ourselves sick before the advent of Coronaville. Here, in the isolated bosom of marshal law, masked masses and proper social distancing? ? ? How did *I* get to be the sanest person on the street?
Gentle support while you transition back to the work-a-day world and your new job. Vent freely as you go. Listening. . .
Welcome aboard.
Best wishes as you make your way through to your new normal.
Take time to help your brain relax, refresh, and renew to calm every single day.
Welcome to the group! Thank you for sharing.
God bless you as you go back to work.
Keep us posted.
Have you ever read about Codependency? Some of the things you wrote about...feeling guilty, taking care of others before yourself, worrying about others...besides anxiety...those could also be signs of codependency.
That causes alot of anxiety!
