Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I recently retired facing some life decisions. Then had some health issues. The stressors knocked me out and I restarted Celexa. This time around I'm having massive morning anxiety. Other posts I've read say this is not unusual. But man, is it rough! I hear it improves. So far, I get it together, shower with a cold shock to reset and then get dressed. I'm getting basics done, some exercise, but have to space it out with little rests. I am not used to this level of difficulty but I persevere. Doing lots of meditation too, which helps. Best wishes to the rest of you out there trying to get through. Stay strong.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
Add a glass of water by your bedside for sipping to start the waking routine.
Here's to your finding what works to bring your anxiety in balance as a helper.
anyhoo. . . getting back on topic. . .
yes, morning anxiety is extremely common, as is increased anxiety after retirement. i manage both by doing my meditations first thing in the morning, followed by my daily personal inventory. once i have a clue how many fries i am short of a happy meal, i pull out the anxiety management tools i will need to get through the day. the days where i am a toy shy of a happy meal are the really rough days. on those days, i lean on my support network, of which this very forum is a part.
welcome aboard. i hope you find stabilizing companionship here.
You said you restarted Celexa? Are you taking the same dose now as you started on the first time? My experience with anxiety medications is that any changes in dosage will really affect how you tolerate it.
I might also assume that the new change of lifestyle (retiring) could also give you some anxious thoughts. Maybe about the future, or finances, or living situations, etc. The adjustment to a different (but better, right!?) daily life now. Do you have things to look forward to doing each day? Maybe take a look at the things in your life that are giving you any stress right now. Stress gives some of us big time anxiety.
And lastly, medicines like Celexa can take 4-6 weeks to give you the good benefits from it. Just keep taking it as prescribed. Don't skip days.
We look forward to hearing more from you!!
