Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Hi guys, I kinda need some help. lately, I've been having really bad thoughts about my friends and family dying in horrific ways and seeing myself killing myself in many ways and they all just flash in my head and I cant get rid of them. It gets in the way of my schoolwork and social life. Even looking at pictures of my friends trigger all the bad that could happen to them and I get terrified that I'm gonna be living alone because everyone will die. I've tried to bring it up to my therapist and my friends but I don't even know where to start with them. Sometimes they don't understand and other times they brush it off. I love my friends and family so much nad I'm scared of losing them. I don't know what to do. I want to kill myself before any one of them dies

Has anyone else noticed that clearly speaking and doing things intentionally is liberating because it helps combat the feeling of depression and a sense of hopelessness? Let me share a little more: in my experience, when those who have tried to project a hidden agenda that is obviously not aligned with integrity and well-being, it's best to be firm and speak clearly from self-awareness and...

The suicidal thoughts are your attempt to try to control an uncontrollable situation.
Anxiety and "control" go hand in hand. With anxiety we feel helpless and hopeless, and we grasp at whatever we can in an attempt to give us a sense of control. Sometimes it is even something as drastic as suicide.
My suggestion for you is certainly keep seeing your therapist. But also learn cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to learn to manage anxiety in general. As you learn not to obsess so much, your grasping for control will settle down as well.
Also, learn zen meditation. Zen meditation teaches us how to "let go" of a thought, and helps tremendously with anxiety disorders as a whole, and that includes obsessing.
You can recover! It will take effort and time, but be patient. Always remember, the future is not yet written, the future is determined by your efforts of today. Time will pass regardless what you do, so plant the seeds of change and see what grows.
