Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
My daughter Emma is epileptic amongst a lot of other things, yesterday evening I could have sat down and cried, she had 2 seizures that day (I know its now a huge amount) was at that time looking very confused and then had another seizure whilst getting ready for bed. It was all a bit much, I've been her carer now for 24 years she has a lot of medical problems all of which are non visible. Yesterday evening it felt a bit much for me to cope with. I've discovered that my cholesterol is high, that was a shock I wasnt expecting it, thought my diet was quite healthy. Obviously not healthy enough. I am a little overweight about 7 pounds, so not a huge amount, the doctor didnt give me tablets, or any advice about what to eat. I've looked that up, not that I didnt know anyway. I get all the help I am entitled to, in the UK its not a lot, and there arent many day care centres for young adults, though she does go to one for 12 hours a week. Guess I am just tired out with it all.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
By the way the latest research about high cholesterol (confirmed also by my doctor ) is that it’s not really the problem they used to think it was unless you have other risk factors. One lot of research says high cholesterol is even protective for women over 60. Medication for it can actually cause issues you didn’t have before. I hope that’s one less thing for you to worry about. Good luck

On the high cholesterol, my doctor told me to take a break from red meat and fried foods. Lower stress levels (Easier said, right?) don’t smoke (Easier said, right?) and walk a somewhat quickly paced mile each day. I followed the diet suggestion and the walking- I usually walk more anyway. But my cholesterol lowered :) Good luck :)
New here too. Per my cardiologist in the US, 70-80% of cholesterol is genetic.
I was about 10 lbs over when i was tagged with high cholesterol at 48yrs. i eat well and exercise too. Didn't want meds. I flirted with an ugly situation (I don't want to add to your concerns so i'll be vague).
Here's what's important: cholesterol is silent. It slowly builds in arterial walls as "plaque" (more about why you have built-in early warning signals in a sec). that build up can block flow to your heart as plaque. Over time, that plaque can calcify (harden). There may be no signs for years. The cardiologist who saved my life told me symptoms usually occur when an artery is 60% to 70% blocked. PLENTY of time to get very easy treatments. [insert a sigh and breath well here :) ].
Educate yourself on symptoms of angina for your gender (its different in men and women). If you have angina symptoms, it could be anxiety or that early warning. There are easy peasy tests they can do to assess if its anxiety or something else (e.g., coronary calcium test).
If you don't have angina, by all means see if diet can help. My GP gave me 90 days which in hindsight was sound advice. By chance i did have angina symptoms at the same time. This led to a script for Lipator. Knocked my cholesterol levels somewhere subterranean! :p I have zero issues with it and take happily now. : )
As for how silent cholesterol can be, I got this easy life saving procedure (heart cath). I felt great the day before and was working the day i was released. What saved me is i listened to my body.
It's very likely nothing. If it is something, there are GREAT options out there. Don't fret this, but don't ignore it either. Do it for your daughter. : )
If you get board of that, buy some frozen fruits to mix in (or non-frozen). Best meal of the day!
Egg whites with mozzarella cheese and some tomato / spinach cooked in olive oil is great. Have fun with the oil. get a jar/dispenser and mix in your own flavors (chilies or parmesan or herbs ...).
Cottage cheese with fruit is also surprisingly good. Instead of yogurt with the fruit mixed in, buy plain and mix in your own.
Oh yeah, give yourself a cheat day once a week. You deserve it!
