Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Hello everyone,
three things which cause me anxiety are occurring all together. I'm trying my best with exercise, meditation, talking to friends but still not sleeping well and my mind is racing. I have scheduled an appointment with my therapist on Thursday this week. I'm glad I am doing these things because my anxiety could be worse as it has been before. I can still function and don't want to go where the anxiety paralyzes me.
I have been doing good with managing the anxiety. Meditation has really helped.
The first of the three is settling my moms estate with 8 siblings. Our meeting yesterday went well. So I am thankful for that. Like I can put it aside.
the second worry is my husband's health. He has had heart disease for 25 years and now has 10 stents. They noticed a rapid heart rate from the lower part of his heart on a heart rhythm recording. This can develop in a life threatening situation. Now he has to go back for MRI of the heart and angiogram with possibly more stents.
the third stressor is my son may get laid off from his teaching job. It is budgets cuts and he does not have tenure yet. Non tenured teachers are the first to go. It seems like something more to deal with. My closest friend tells me all I can do is support him, because you can't control it. Which is true but we all know how our anxiety works.
any words of encouragement and how you deal with this are appreciated.
thanks for reading. Writing it out helps.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
Those three stresses are enough to kick my anxiety into crisis gear. Gentle support while you work them through. Vent freely. Vent often.
Listening. . .
All we can do is take one thing at a time. Try to see the positive. For example, the meeting with your siblings was stressful but it went well. Great! Your husband might *not* need more stents, and it's good that he is under a doctor's care and that they are on top of his health. And 3, maybe hopefully your son won't get laid off.
It's easy to think the worst, and very common to do that. Try to look at positive things you have going, even small things. Example - I do have a relationship with my siblings. My husband is under great care and I am grateful for that. My son has become a wonderful teacher and I am so proud of him.
Our minds can dwell on negatives but you can also have your mind dwell on positive things, too. Because positive thoughts are happier, so why not dwell on some happy things? :)
Thank you for sharing. Please feel free to post, we are here for you.
There are also times that I worry but prayer always works. I give all my concerns to God, it’s not easy to train our minds to focus on the positive but that’s the only way we can experience peace. Sometimes I don’t have the answer to my prayers but the answer comes in the form of peace.
I pray that things will go well in your family. Please keep us posted. God bless.
