Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Hello: My name is Carolyn and I suffer from GAD, Health Anxiety and Depression. I had it under control for almost 9 years. In June of 2020 I had to have a D & C done to remove polyps from my uterus. Everything came out ok with that. I had the procedure on Monday and by Wednesday my anxiety and depression was so bad all I did was cry for days. I ended up in the ER on July 4th thinking something was wrong with my heart. All the tests came back fine. Eventually I ended up in a mental health program and going on FMLA because I couldn't work. During that time I ended up in the hosptial again thinking the same thing that the chest pain etc was my heart. Again the EKG and other tests came back fine. I ended up in the mental health hospital for a week and they basically kicked me out because it wasn't doing me any good. I kept looking for anyone for assurance that I was ok. I had another EKG done with my primary physician in November and that was ok as well.
I am in the middle of a medication change. I'm now on Sertraline 50mg and one week in. I start on December 6th at 12.5 and built up the to 50mg.
My anxiety and depression is still bad.
I wake up every morning with my heart feeling like it's beating in my chest.
I brush my teeth and I start gagging and throw up.
I cry almost every day.
At work I have no personality. I'm sad and anxious almost all day.
At home when I try to rest and watch tv all I can do is feel my heart beating and when I look at my shirt I can see the beats through it.
Will this ever end. Will I be my normal happy self again?

You've taken the important first step in writing it out.
Keep writing out everything in a daily journal.
When anxiety is overwhelming, often the cause is due to the combination of events, thoughts, feelings, emotions, words, and images being combined in a floating conversation.
Distraction helps to naturally reduce the anxiety and clearing the mind allows you to find a focus on a specific task. Writing a list of daily tasks and marking them off help you to see that you are still functioning 'normal' in daily living activities.
Best wishes as you find your better balance.
I was born anxious into a high anxiety birthright, so I wouldn't know normal if it bit me on the toes and wouldn't go back to the old me if it were an available option, but I am all to familiar with the symptoms you are describing. Gentle empathy. They are tough symptoms to manage.
The good news is that those symptoms are manageable. Since I have learned how to manage my anxiety, I have even learned how to love the me I have grown into and have built a life I am happy to call my own. Posts similar to this one are one of my most important anxiety management tools. Getting my anxieties of the day into words and sharing them in a safe, supportive environment helps me get a functional handle on which tools I will need on any given day. I hope it works for you, as well.
Welcome aboard.
For what it's worth
I take those heart attack symptoms as a sign that my body is polluted with anxiety hormones. The pros who have helped me through this journey claim that anxiety hormones are similar to methamphetamines in effect and potency. Vigorous physical workouts help me purge those toxins.
