Forgive yourself. You learned from those experiences.
Self-forgiveness and making amends was/is my ticket out of that vicious loop. The further I get with this practice, the more I find that, for the most part, I am only forgiving myself for doing the best I can with a bad situation. In the cases where I believe I have hurt someone else with my misbegotten efforts, making amends goes a long way toward easing the guilt and helping myself understand how to do ^it^ better the next time.
My memory is just doing its job when it won't let me forget. I actually damaged my memory in the effort to forget. Trying too hard to forget is kinda like scratching a computer's hard drive to scrub porn off of the internet.

Much psychotherapy later, I came to realize I had been too busy forgetting to get to the forgiving. Who needs to forgive what they can forget? Turns out, forgiving is much harder work than forgetting.
But that is me and every case is unique. . .
