Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Hi all,
Im new to this sort of thing. I have SEVERE anxiety, I am in therapy although due to recent circumstances haven’t been able to go for a couple of weeks. My anxiety is ruling my life right now. I’m also a sufferer of borderline personality disorder and some mild to moderate depression. I up and quit my job yesterday, it was a tough week last week and it all culminated when a co-worker and I got into it hard yesterday and in my anger and my sadness I gave my notice. When I got home I realized how stupid that was because I truly do love where I work even if I don’t love everyone I work with with. So when I went in to work today, I took back my notice but it seemed like they were completely ok with me leaving however did accept that I was going to stay, but this then caused my anxiety to increase. I know everyone is replaceable but it saddened me to realize that my personality/anxiety, or rather my allowance of its power over me, is ruining the great things in my life. I recently find myself worrying so much about everyone else and what they think, this causes my anxiety level to rise as I am reacting to things that are unrealistic, haven’t happened yet, or simply in the grand scheme of things don’t really matter. I know I need to call my therapist and schedule an appointment but I also think that being a part of a world with other people who are going through the same thing as me will be so extremely helpful. I not necessarily looking for advice although any offered would be gladly received, but also I’m just hoping to start to take a step in the right direction, pushing forward and creating something good out of something that at the moment feels so completely awful. In return I also hope that I can share my experiences to help others learn and understand what they are going through and know that they also are not alone.
Thank you and I look forward to being a member of this wonderful community!

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
I’m so sorry to hear what you’re going through. I know how difficult and frustrating it must be for you. It’s good you’re seeing a therapist. Please know that you’re not alone. I’d suggest that you look for things to do to keep your mind off of your negative feelings. Maybe you could pursue an activity, sport, or hobby that you enjoy and that makes you feel good. Physical exercise has the added benefit of helping to relieve negative emotions naturally. Remember that you deserve to feel better. I just said a prayer for you, and I hope you’ll feel better soon. You can always come here to share, and I’m sure you’ll find a lot of help and support. Take good care of yourself. Sending hugs & wishing you well!
My personal experience agrees with your notion that the support of a community of people suffering similar problems is priceless in managing my anxiety symptoms. The pro support was valuable, as well, but pros are kinda like reference books. They are incredibly expensive, they never leave the library and the goal is to get them back on the shelf as quickly as possible. My peer supporters have my back in the trenches.
I'm not a big fan of advice-giving, but. . . Listening. . . Assuring you you are not alone.
Welcome aboard. Hope you find stabilizing companionship here.
