Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

The latest stirs of the covidic stew have me feeling especially mistrusting and rebellious these days. Does it matter which side I am on? Some days I fear I have regressed to my pre-therapy levels of rebellious mistrust. Whichever way I stir the pot, I seem to hit covidic bones and blood. They are far from a palatable blend with the yaddahs of my PTSD blahs.
One of my early therapy breakthroughs came from a "Secret Samaritan Club" within a live support group I was active in It might even be the first of the support groups where I achieved enough stability to feel like I belonged. This "club" was based in this read from the daily meditation reader, "Courage to Change." I found it a timely reminder and thought I'd reinforce the reminder by sharing here.

"Just for today. . . I will do somebody a good turn and not get found out; if anybody knows of it, it will not count." What a terrific exercise! It helps me to break free of the habit of doing kind or generous things in order to get something back. Only when I perform a loving act with no expectatins will I reap the true reward of giving.
I am learning that giving doesn't have to take away from me or anyone else --if there are no strings attached, everyone stands to benefit. Every good and loving gesture soothes my soul and contributes to a healthier world. These anonymous, positive actions are the building blocks of a flourishing spiritual well-being. My self-esteem grows because I can feel good about my actions. I am engaged in worthwhile pursuits.
Today's Reminder
Today I will put unconditional love into action. When I give freely, without expecting anything in return, I always receive more than I give.
end quote
Just for today. . . I think I'll do something nice for someone on the other side of the masked divide.

It's going to get hotter here with Thursday being the hottest. It's noon and 75f feels more like 80 or more.I've been cleaning up the deck in this morning and cleaning the windows outside. Then I cut up a pallet in half, I've decided to call it quits now because I went a bit light headed. Joanne, some drugs we take have an effect on us in the heat, I know a couple of mine do, maybe yours...

Hey All...I hope that you have a lovely, peaceful beginning of your weekI have a bunch of chores that need doing but may put them off til tomorrow and just hang out with my landlord/roomie todayWhat about you?...Anything special going on?Have a great day and take good care of you!!..Xo

I paid for a young man's dinner at the grocery store last week.
I saw his debit card-I knew it was not a bank nor a credit card and that there had been problems with those cards through an online support group discussion. '
The cashier teared up, the people in line behind me said, "I would never have thought of that in time, ...". The smile on the young man's face as he hurried out the door with his hot dinner was worth the effort it took to step up, run my card through when his card wouldn't go through. I was ready.
I didn't know him, nor did I know the cashier or the other customers. I'm glad I took the chance with the choice I made since it changed the way I looked at the day, even though it was nighttime.
It's still a secret to me, since I don't know anyone else in the event. I don't know if that makes sense.
Thank you, Arfie, for giving me the opportunity to share it through your sharing!
I am thrilled you shared your story here, Mid. I'm sniffling a bit myself. Hope springs eternal. It still doesn't count as your secret Samaritan deed since you had several witnesses. Maybe if you had paid for his bag and left it for him to find, but the logistics of that would be huge. It remains a beautiful deed, regardless. Thank you. The ways to promote kindness in the world are quite literally endless.
