Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

So I'm super embarrased to admit this but I went to the ER earlier thinking that I was possibly having a heart attack. I'm a 27 year old female. My husband and I were laying on the couch and all of sudden my heart started to race even feeling like it was skipping a beat. This has happened before (maybe like once a month) I usually brush it off and nothing major comes from it.
Well I couldn't brush it off this time and think I had my first panic attack. I've always had anxiety/ get worried and stressed but never really thought I had a panic attack before. I started breathing really heavy and my hands and feet went numb. I felt dizzy and lightheaded and even start having diarrhea and feeling like I was going to vomit. Any way I convinced my husband to take me to the ER because something just didn't feel right. After EKG, blood work and urine test all they found wrong was that my potassium was low (apparently not eating had caused it to drop - I've worked 24 hours in two days and honestly only had coffee I didn't even realize I hadn't eaten until they asked). Anyways apparently the low potassium can cause irregular heartbeats and palpitations and then that caused my to hyperventitlate and go into full blow panic.
Got home around 3am and hubby went to sleep. I was starting to feel better but then I googled.....they sent me home with all my bloodwork etc....I googled the two other areas on the bloodwork that showed up as well. It was white blood cells and well I saw all sorts of horrible things involving luekimia, lyphomna etc.... OF COURSE I've been trying to tell myself that if my doctor didn't feel concerned by it neither should I (I did like my doctors and nurses - they listened and geniunely seemed concerned). Well anyways I also read that white blood cells can be low because of panic attacks - putting the body in flight or fight can lower those. But anyways I'm freaking out again and trying really hard to calm down - now instead of heart attack I'm thinking luekimia (which I know is dumb because it's more likely caused by the stress and haven't been sick/ had infections etc....)
I appreciate all the support and love.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
Personally, I believe it is smarter to ask the questions and rule them out than to try to repress the worry. My worries seldom let up until I resolve them, at least far enough to vent them. Trying to repress them only triggers my OCD. I hope you will discuss the worries with your primary care physician rather than repressing them with further blows to your self-esteem. The questions are NOT dumb.
As for managing the anxiety and panic attacks. . . Joining here was an excellent first step. Emotional support can make a huge diff. Welcome aboard.
I have been trying to tell peeps here that MOST ppl are deficient in potassium, magnesium (this won't show up in regular blood tests as this mineral many consists in your tissues and bones and only 1% in the blood). Another deficiency is Omega 3.....and also D3. However, the doctors do not tell you that you must supplement vitamin K2 in order to get D3 to work.
Doctors only need 7 hours out of a 5 or 6 year schooling in nutrition. There is no money in ordering good quality vitamins.
It takes anywhere from a month to 3 months to re establish potassium and other deficiencies and that is why peeps get frustrated and think it is not working. Plus buying poor quality vitamins/supplements from places like Walmart and Walgreens....and GNC are poor quality supplements that will not work. PLUS if your digestive system isn't working right (IBS, gastritis, crones disease, celiacs disease, acid reflux, and a host of other stomach issues, your vitamins can not be pulled from the foods or supplements, so the stomach issues must be addressed first or in conjunction with supplements.
However, if you take high quality supplements from a health food store or vitamin shop, you will get better results. There are employees there that can help you make good decisions.
I was recently diagnosed with a vitamin B12 deficiency as well as vitamin D3 which I was already taking 2,000 i.u. My doctor upped the dose of D3 to 3,ooo i.u., but failed to tell me that I needed K2 to get it to work properly. The owner/nutritionist informed me to take K2 (mk-7) with the D3. I had suspected a B12 deficiency becuz I experienced all kinds of symptoms, PLUS, my anxiety which had been cured was back, and sure enough....I was deficient.
Everything else showed normal, but I added foods loaded with potassium (we need 4,700 mg every day)......and also magnisium.
So many deficiencies of vitamins and minerals will cause anxiety.
I do supplement becuz our foods are toxic and the grounds that our food is grown in is depleted of nutrients/magnesium.
I've gone all organic......even the chicken (I don't care for red meat). However, the chickens and eggs must be organic and FED organic feed as well. I thought it would be more expensive, but I found the doctor bills, co pays, insurance.......and future hospital bills cost more.
I eat simple and get most of my vitamins from the healthy food itself. I exercise daily, drink plenty of filtered water, meditate/deep breathing, and I eliminated the many negative ppl and situations in my life.
It takes several factors to eliminate anxiety and to improve and keep myself in homeostasis state. It takes work, but is worth it.
Well, that is my shiny nickels worth.
I would bet that you do not have leukemia, just a few deficiencies that will take several weeks to turn around.
I started feeling better just a week after I got my test results and started supplements.
Drink organic coconut water. It is loaded with potassium......and it's pretty good tasting and will keep you hydrated.
Best of luck.
