Hello Everyone,
I am quite honestly.... tired of not having a good thing to report back to you all, but, life guys. Life. Is. Rough.
I've had a lot of family things coming up, which has affected my mental health. My ability to feel grounded and relaxed. I honestly feel as though I have been on edge for a long while. How do you help someone who clearly needs help but refuses to take it? Its like I am watching my sibling just give up.. and I feel so helpless. I've talked to my therapist and while I am trying to get it through my head that I cannot control their life... I wish I could help them through the troubles they are feeling. I can't. And what sucks is that I feel like no one else even cares about what they are going through. Not their partner, not my parents. And I feel like it is all falling on me to be the one to help them. I have not caught a break. I have started my last year of my master's degree... and I just do not have the mind to be focusing on the issues of others when I have my own issues at hand.
I feel generally overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted. I feel guilt for feeling this way because I feel like i have an obligation to help my sibling... but I can't help someone who refuses help. It has to be up to them whether or not they actually take the help.
I wish life would get easier.
I am okay though, so no worries everyone. I am pushing through just as I always do. I am making time for myself to just... be. Things will get better soon, I just know it.
I hope you all are doing good,
-Blue.

I am responsible for what I say, do, act, react, respond, and I need to put my well-being first. Stop. Pause. Breathe. Repeat until calm and clear headed.
The best way to help your sibling and to accept that it's NOT up to you to do, say, act, respond, or react, is to step back and be there when your sibling is ready to accept 'help'.
It's NOT your problem. You are good to write it out and to express that you are pushing through, and to let it go. You are NOT responsible for what others say, do, act, react, and respond.
If you are watching, listening, observing and you want to 'step in' or otherwise involve your feelings into the situation, remember that you are only responsible for your actions.
Stay focused on your goals and keep your distance.
But you are right, we can't make other people do things, and especially things they don't want to do. It's hard, because we see things that they could do to make their lives better, but ultimately it is their choice and their life. Which is hard to accept. But it's a sibling, and I assume they are an adult? It's not like our own child that we are trying to help. Trust that your sibling will figure it out.
Plus, you actually don't want to get TOO involved, as then you will take on a whole set of issues that you will be responsible for, and sometimes the person blames YOU for when things don't go the way that "you suggested...."
Be there for them. Offer to listen. Check in on them and just ask how they are doing.
Maybe they need a listening ear. And from there, solutions to their problems can be discovered, by them just talking about them.
