Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

i'm risking the sin of pride over how far hubs and i have come in settling our domestic SNAFUs far enough to pull together for our 3 orphans. 5 years ago, when this trail of tears began about a year before our son and his wife died died, i was living alone in another state, happily getting my feet wet (pun intended) on my river research. hubs and i were still deeply devoted to our shared family, but we pretty much needed that 800 mile buffer to head off our passionate tit-for-tat skirmishes. working out ways to avoid those tit-for-tat skirmishes has been the primary focus of our relationship work.
an analogy which has been helpful in the discussion is, "the inter-library exchange program." the meanest of our tit-for-tat skirmishes are when we agree from different libraries. e.g. an adolescant child has just been arrested. both the rising executive and the construction worker agree that this is bad news and something needs to be done. the exec and the constructo have considerably different resources and views to expostulate from. yes, but. . . but, yes. . . and the skirmish begins while the adolescant child runs angrily to hide in the bedroom. that was 1995. hubs and i never did accomplish a civil dialogue on the subject, but i quit my construction work to take charge of out-of-control adolescants. toughest crew i ever ran. . . the rising exec continued rising on the 70+ hours he devoted to the accomplishment. i did what i could to keep the out-of-control adolescants from short circuiting on further tit-for-tat skirmishes. talking about the 4 years dead son has become comparatively easy. his children want to know. we are only now accomplishing civil convos about the now 43 year old, homeless crackhead. far enough to head off a few of the bad habits formed during our first parenting career here in our second parenting career.
methinks i am in danger of rambling. my hope --just hoping-- is to develop the library analogy. am i making sense?
thoughts? opines? unsolicited advice?

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.
Those who have experienced this and/or similar situations can read between the lines to know the stress, anxiety, and the methods available in the moment are nothing like they are now with the new technology of sharing information in social media.
The balance of the decisions made affects the process of sharing a bit of stop, pause, breathe, option and repeat until calm and clear-headed.
I'd say you're doing an excellent job of finding the measure of words to help the littles grow up with active knowledge of their own ability to make choices that have unintended consequences as they learn for their own selves.
Here's to you!
that you're managing and proud of that! I'd say you have a lot you've 'risen to the occassion' for. Well done arfie!!
testing, 4, 5, 6. . .
mid,
i've generated tons of collateral damage when i've thought i was reading between the lines. yeah, my experience gives me added insights seen through lenses god never intended. my assumptions of what i am reading between the lines are all to often psychotic. i'm studying up on how to ask before i AssUMe.
And yes, I am constantly taking stock of my past and my present. I have recently realized that some childhood memories were true, I asked my sister. These are memories of a birthday when I turned 5 and it has affected my life up until now. Gave me clarity to have my sister confirm these memories. I think it was something traumatic that happened to me but I could not process at that time and my mom and dad were not the kind to put their kids first. They weren't terrible parents just immature, likely undiagnosed mood disorder, and had no skills in this area.
for what it's worth
i made the mistake of presenting myself as "grandmother" when i picked up the eldest daughter from school this past week. i was damned near strip searched, by a fellow grandmother, no less. despite the lingering old world stereotypes, here in the 21st norm of family estrangement, grandparents are not officially trustworthy. as a "foster mother" people seldom question my authority and often throw me a heroes welcome. "foster mother" is far more descriptive of the relationship than the sweet old lady who hands spoiled rotten kids back to responsible, freshly rested parents.
the school staff encourages grandparent involvement whenever possible, but the trend of family estrangement is WAAAAAY ahead of the family stereotypes. the legal eagles and enforcers are on the job.
for the officials caught in this evolutionary cross-fire, foster mothers are safer to process than grandmothers.
