Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I have posted in quite some time. Things have been going well. Life has not been easy all the time, but I've been coping with it and been doing pretty good. That said, I'm flying across the country by myself tomorrow to visit my aging parents and I'm feeling pretty damn anxious. I'm trying to accept the anxiety for what it is and not to turn it into something bigger. But man, my impulse is to push this discomfort as far away from myself as possible... cancel the trip and stay in my comfort zone. I know I can't do that. I've got to adult here and do this. For my parents, for myself, as an example to my kids.
So, for now, I guess I need to just thank that voice in my head that says I can't do this for it's input, but tell it that I disagree. I can do this. I'm going to do this. And it's going to be okay.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Good luck on your trip. Back when I was a nervous flyer, I would bring headphones to listen to music that I had pre-recorded. I started the music right away, and that helped me to get through my nervousness of the flight.
Also, talking to other people on the plane helped. Will you be flying with anyone? Heck, when I flew alone, I would tell the flight attendant that I was nervous, and they came and checked on me later. Very nice of them.
Keep yourself distracted. Maybe play a game on your phone? (I know you'll have to switch your phone to Airplane mode during the flight, but if you download games or even a movie or TV show beforehand, I am pretty sure you can watch/listen to those...but check with the airline first). Or, bring a book. A book of puzzles helps me, such as a Word Search.
I need me some distractions! LoL.
Hope your parents are well.
Distraction is great in releasing the anxiety so it does not continue to build up.
Something important to do for your well-being-make time to laugh, to be fun, have silly moments with your parents! This is a visit!
As usual, the anticipatory anxiety is far worse than the actual doing.
