Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

I am shocked that I am not constantly nauseous from the rollercoaster I feel like I am always riding. I woke up this morning and got a workout in, cleaned my bathrooms, and also the dog crate. I made it to work 15 minutes early and was feeling decent. I can feel myself beginning to plummet, for absolutely no reason. It hasn't been a bad day. I haven't had any triggers. All I know that as I was listening to the audiobook "Feeling Good" this morning, I began having negative thoughts. I suddenly started feeling like all of the CBT stuff he is spitting out is just a bunch of bologna; when in fact, I know that it has been very effective for many people. I just get in these moods where I just know I am treatment resistant and there is nothing further to be done. The crazier thing is, there is typically no trigger when those thoughts come along. It is literally out of nowhere. This, I do not understand. Any advice?

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
I'm so sorry you're feeling this. I feel this so much too.
Sometimes I wonder if my desperation to not feel negative is what makes the low mood even worse. And sometimes when I can take a step back and say 'oh, so this negativity is literally a symptom of the affliction/illness' it helps me stop frantically fighting.
any therapeutic process. Sounds bleak. One of the great attributes of the in-person therapeutic process is the organic nature of the process and the give and take, the ability to pose questions, to redirect, to clarify, etc.
Maybe it’s not that you are treatment resistant but just haven’t been able to get traction with a therapist or the right therapy.
Full disclosure I don’t do a lot of self help reading or listening because it does tend to overwhelm and agitate me. I am on board initially and then completely rebel. I think it helps a lot of people for sure but I find it the opposite, just personally speaking.
Then we get to self-help books. . . I used to read them voraciously but the therapist who helped me kick that habit called the results of my random consumption, "Psychiatric Disorder Disorder." Working too many theories at once in random order is, undeniably, disorderly. It is far easier to work your theories one at a time.
Do fun things. Be silly in the mirror. Smile, make soft faces to feel the way the muscles relax.
Distract the usual pattern.
