Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Hello,
I am new here. I've always hated traveling because of my anxiety. When there's no home base or anything, it's like you are trapped. I want to enjoy it like everyone else does, before I become a hermit. The anxiety specficially attacks my stomach, which causes GI problems, and then I cannot be anywhere without a bathroom. I thought this issue would stop over the years, but it has not. Do I give up and just accept I'll rarely ever travel? I am only 31 and do want to visit parts of the world like all of my friends want to do. I have lost my script to benzos because of addiction, and I struggle with alcohol - it's such a temporary fix and the come down is terrible. Does anyone else feel similarily? Thank you.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
Might it help if you had a very detailed travel itinerary so you can prepare for the times you may feel off balance while traveling?
Not everyone digs traveling. My husband could take or leave it. He likes the idea of it but executing it is a whole other thing. He usually ends up enjoying it once were are “there” but he gets stressed out about it. He is way more relaxed about weekend road trips somewhere.
Anyway, sorry it’s a struggle. Are you getting help for anxiety through therapy by chance? Just curious since it sounds like you may be are struggling with being off meds?
By the way your user name made me chuckle.
You've taken the important first step in writing it out.
I suggest you continue writing out everything to find the clues to help you move forward in your long-term goal to travel!
Best wishes as you find your better balance.
For me, we plan our trip with plenty of breaks and no rushing! We have gone on long trips, day trips, weekend trips, and with an extra set of clothes and wipes for the very few times we couldn't stop, the trips are wonderful. Stress is common, and working through everything is worth the effort!
I'm on the opposite end of that spectrum. Having a fixed home base puts me in fear of entrapment. I grew up on the road without a home base and "Townie Life" looked hopelessly boring and far too limited for my needs.
Does our spectrum meet with my current need to develop a home base here on the Southern Great Plains and your desire to see more of the amazing world we live in? Just wondering. . .
So or no, this very forum is a great place to sort the anxieties attached.
Welcome aboard.
