Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Recently, I developed some significant sinus tachycardia on a work trip that has increased in frequency ever since. My heart will randomly jump to 100-160bpm with little to no effort, but it is in normal rhythm and comes back down after a little bit. My doctors explained sinus tachycardia is a symptom, not a diagnosis. I've been going to every specialist I can get my hands on and so far no one has any answers as to what could be causing this.....except that it is possibly anxiety/panic attacks. I've had anxiety historically speaking, but it absolutely did not present like this. I used to just have easy crying/burst of emotion, uncomfortable feeling in my chest (that tightness we all know), and the feeling of not being able to get comfortable because things touching me felt awful. But that anxiety was never debilitating. It was inconvenient, sure, but never so bad that I couldn't function in my every day life. This new - whatever it is - is completely debilitating. It is a chicken and egg situation because I don't know which came first (though my gut tells me it was my heart that came first and is causing the anxiety).
Has anyone else had a similar issue? Was it truly anxiety or was there an underlying medical cause? The doctor said whatever is causing the sinus tachycardia is not originating from my heart....so where is it coming from? How do you cope? Breathing exercises and attempts to ground or focus myself don't always help. I'm now entering an intensive outpatient mental health program because of the toll this has all taken on me. I've also developed medical anxiety because I'm always afraid they're missing something or that medication is going to make me worse. I want to get back to a place of positive thinking and normal functioning.
Thank you ahead of time to anyone who offers kind words. I feel blessed to have found this outlet. God bless you.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
steadying support while you find what works for you, the10.
The fast beating of the heart is often relieved fast naturally through breathing exercises aimed to allow the body and brain sync in rhythm through calming motions.
I suspect that when you keep writing it out, you'll discover the '...' that brought the whole symptom out.
Welcome to the anxiety board at DS.
Here's hoping you find your better balance fast!
