Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Hello everyone, it has been a good few months since I was active on this group but I just thought id check in with an update about my journey with anxiety and using the acceptance method to cope. Just over a year ago, I experienced a panic attack while sitting at a red light. This random panic attack brought upon panic disorder and intense anxiety that I had never experienced before. Since then, I have tried all the "get rich quick" schemes if you will, to try and get rid of what I thought was, THIS STUPID HORRIBLE ANXIETY AND PANIC that pops up whenever I'm driving a car. Let me tell you, none of those methods worked for me. I might have found a little bit of relief here and there but for the most part, they did absolutely nothing to aid in my recovery. I tried therapy as well which helps yes but still not the instant fix that I was craving at the time. I then stumbled upon this group of amazing people on daily strength. Without some of your kind words and advice, I truly don't know if I'd feel as great about myself as I would have without your help. A very active member on this site pointed me towards a book titled: Its only Anxiety, and wow has it changed my life. I realized there was no instant fix for what I was feeling, there was only hard work, determination, and acceptance. Pushing into the feelings, experiencing the fear, trying to learn from and almost enjoy the incredible journey that anxiety takes you on. Let me tell you, it was and is, alot of hard, painstaking work. It takes me every day, 100% of my brain power to try and accept my anxiety for what it is. Make it my friend. And im here 1 year after this has all started to tell you that its working. I can go throgh almost entire days now without being overrun with anxious thoughts and feelings. And if and when they do arrise, I am able to accept and allow them far better than I could just a few months ago. I am still on this journey and will continue to get better and better at this life thing. But I am proud to say that I don't have panic disorder anymore. Thank you all for your help and support thought these past months. Like I said before, I am still on this journey, But I feel like I can breathe again, I can think again, and best of all, I can just be me again. And if I can get to this point, I truly believe all of you can as well. Never give up on yourself. Good luck to all of you and thank you for your help with my journey so far. I'll try to be more active on here in the future as this has definetely been a key resource to my recovery.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
