Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Yesterday was a horrible day. I was exhausted all day. My boyfriend was off work. I became increasingly paranoid and upset at him all day due to how he convinced me to go out and drink all weekend when I didn't want to.
So what did I do...? I went to the store and bought more beer. And I drank it and my paranoia went from bad to worse. The anxiety also went from bad to worse. He is an alcoholic who pressures me to drink, yes, but yesterday the craving to drink came from my own mind, not his. I started accusing him of going to the bar all day without me, I got increasingly paranoid
This is where the bad part happens. I messaged a girl I work with and drunkenly opened up to her. I said he raised his fist at me. Then I apologized and told her to ignore it and that I was drinking. I apologized this morning.
We work together every day. She will be starting in about half an hour. I have never wanted to die so much in my entire life. I am humiliated. I am worried she is going to tell people. She likes to drink herself, and has invited me out a couple times yet I declined, (my boyfriend didn't want me to go) but I feel like she doesn't lose control like I do.
I don't know what to do. I feel like an idiot. I need to stop drinking, stop blaming my boyfriend for mentally "forcing" me to drink when I have a problem too, it's like I feel like this relationship is horrible and I wouldn't be like this if I was with someone else or single. I don't know what to do. We have literally no money now for 3 weeks because we walked down to the bar last night.
I don't know what to say to the girl I messaged on Facebook. I don't know why I did that.

Hello- I am new to the group

Jay's podcasts are really good. I watch them on YouTube for free. Today, I watched his video about motivation. In fact, I've been watching a few videos on this subject. Jay gave us an assignment to complete the following sentence: I am stuck because? I don't describe myself as stuck, but to finish the sentence, I would say that I am stuck because I am tired. When I have energy, I do...
... I am messed up. I am trapped. I am an alcoholic and I pit myself in my own situation. I get that. I do. Nothing you say will make me feel worse than I already do.
I know my self worth is low. I know I need help. I just feel like I'm drowning and that I'm so fucked up I will never be happy and normal.
I better let the other posters take over now...
Once you find a coping mechanism that is natural to help balance your anxiety, you'll be able to sort through the thought patterns and distract them to different choices.
You are responsible for what you say, do, and how you react. You are not responsible for others. So, treat your choices for your well-being first and others' response will change, not always for the better, and then as you continue to make changes, they will also change their responses.
Start simple. Make a simple choice to help you feel better in the moment.
Best wishes.
If AA is not for you, you need to find something if you really want to quit drinking.
Keep sorting, Lettgo. Your answers are in there.
Continued support, whichever way you take ^it^.
I'm not saying I want to quit drinking forever... I wish I could be with someone who knew how to drink moderately. I feel like dating an alcoholic is turning me into an alcoholic. Maybe that makes me weak. Man my mind is messed up.
So now the only person on the floor who kind of wanted to hang out with me thinks I'm a weirdo who gets drunk on a Monday night and messages people about her boyfriend. And then says to ignore it with a pizza emoji.
What the hell have I done
