Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
My anxiety has been unmanageable for about a month now but it seems to be getting worse. I started seeing a psychologist last week but won't see him again till Friday which seems so far away.
I had a hormonal IUD inserted a month ago and it made my anxiety worse (granted I didn't like the idea of synthetic hormones in my body so it could have been self inflicted anxiety). I started having heart palpitations and had it removed 2 1/2 weeks later. The following day I went to the ER for heart palpitations but they found nothing. I saw my PCP yesterday and my blood pressure was low so I'm seeing a cardiologist on Friday as well. He said to get in ASAP but didn't want to make my anxiety worse.
Everything is so overwhelming and I'm struggling to not go to the ER again! I've taken 2.5mg of Xanax today. I'm prescribed for 2mg a day and have taken it for 13+ years. I really don't like taking it at all but I don't know how to stop and now I certainly can't because I'm too stressed and anxious. I'm scared it's going to wear off in a few hours and I'm going to fear taking another .5mg and I'll panic again. I've been prescribed 3mg/day short term but that was a long time ago and my blood pressure wasn't low then. I'm just in this cycle of misery. I'm trying meditation but it only helps with the medication. Once I'm in panic mode nothing works :(

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
My anxiety happens to be in my stomach and lower GI, so I don’t generally have issues with my heart.
I learned recently that anemia causes palpitations, depression and other similar symptoms. I also have low blood pressure, well healthy low, but I didn’t know if that might be related to your issues.
I mention the above because I’m being treated for severe anemia. I also went to the cardiologist and they told me there was nothing wrong with me.
Also I find that listening to anti-anxiety affirmations help when I’m having an attack. You may consider that?
I’m not an expert but i hope I helped a little.
There are others out there feeling as you are.
Im here for you.
Expert I ain't, but this just-a-patient take psychosomatic symptoms more seriously than physical symptoms. I believe the brain is the most powerful organ in the body and mixed signals there will be felt throughout the entire system. I have a long and gory herstory of mixed signals in my trauma-twisted brain.
I would be calling the doctor who placed that IUD for the reassurance of eliminating its side-effects from the list of candidates before I worry my psych inventory. Reassurance is and important part of their job. Let them do that for you and hormones, both natural and artificial, are notorious for their side effects.
Keep us posted, Southern Girl. The load is easier when shared and typing out your doubts can help to focus the issues attached.
Welcome to the forum.
I am sorry you are experiencing so many complications. I wish there was an easier way to solve anxiety issues. I'm no doctor but maybe try and be around others (if possible), pray (if that's something you believe in), exercise, find a hobby to get your mind off your current situation, vent to a friend, etc.
I hope everything gets better.
You're not alone.
