Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

hello, it’s nice to meet you all. I apologize for the length of this but this is my first post to the group.
My mother had anxiety for almost my entire childhood and 29 years later I’m willing to admit that I think I have them as well. When I was 25 during a nasty break up with the first person I really cared about enough to propose marriage I got a little drunk one night and got sick. The next day my throat was red and raw and I had this feeling of a cotton ball in it for weeks. The whole ordeal made me so worried that I had throat cancer or something even worse kept me awake at night. So much so that eventually I just tried to use cigarettes and alcohol to take my mind off it. During this time my bowels started acting strangely and have continued acting strangely for 4 years. At one point I was so scared that I was going to die of stomach cancer or something worse caused me to have a minor panic attack where I couldn’t breathe, my hands locked up and everything went black. I actually thought it was the end. I started pleading with my friends to take me to the hospital and apologizing for all I’ve ever felt guilty about.
Since then it’s been about 6 months and I’ve moved into my own place and I’ve started trying to treat myself better. Drinking less and desperately trying to quit smoking. I’m still worried everyday about my stomach and if maybe I have some rare cancer that they’ve missed but I’ve had several tests done and the doctors all say I’m fine. Nothings wrong beside the severe ibs that your anxiety has given you.... it’s hard to be lonely and not think about the strange mysterious things going on in my body. I think most of my problem is smoking but I just can’t stop worrying about how much time I have left and what I still haven’t done with my life because I’m riddled with imaginary cancer that’s making me so upset that I can actually see myself aging in the mirror.
Im sorry this is so choppy and run on.... honestly I just need a friend. I just desperately want someone to say it’s going to be ok. Thank you for indulging me and my feelings

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Stay hydrated. Practice even breathing. Use gentle motion to distract usual patterns as you learn how to get yourself moving.
Best wishes.
Welcome to the group.
It also helps me to know I'm not alone with this nuttery. Keep sharing, Cowhand. You are not alone, either. Welcome aboard.
Anxiety can cause so many physical symptoms. Between January and May I went to the doctor SO many times for different things that were making me sick. They would do tests and find nothing. I would start to feel better and then wake up with something else.. it’s all anxiety!
I’ve also had IBS triggered by stress for 10 years now. Yes, 10 years! I just got over a bout of Gastritis as well, which was miserable. All caused by anxiety and stress. We have so many nerve endings in our gut, try googling how the brain is connected to the stomach. Knowledge is power and it’s helped me understand the disease better. The calmer you are the calmer your gut will be too. Also, stay away from fried, greasy, and spicy food when it acts up.
I’m new here too, but just being able to let out your feelings and having people show they care has made me feel so much better. You’re not crazy and you’re not alone!!
