Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

My anxiety has been at it's worst ever and for the past several months.
I reached a point where I have been barely getting through the day.
Basic tasks like showering or preparing a meal seemed impossible.
My home now reflects the state of my mind.
I'd be embarrased to share the details of how awful it has gotten.
I have isolated myself and now that I am on an upswing I can't even dig myself out of the mess around me.
I am too embarrased to let anyone know or ask for help to do it.
I know if I clean it up I will feel better because my environment will be clean and calming.
I'll be able to invite people over and feel less isolated.
Every time I set out to do it I get so overwhelmed and it triggers my anxiety to where I cannot do anything except sit and stare into a wall.
It's going to take me at least a few days to get the worst of it done.
I need to keep motivated when I start to feel it is impossible.
Please help me with your words of support and encouragement!
I am on meds and working on the roots of my anxiety, but right now
I just want a safe place to share my progress and check in.

Do you think anxiety is genetic or comes from your environment? What are your thoughts?

Many of you know Mr K told me to "shut your mouth" in March 2025 when we took a road trip to Alpena Michigan. Since that time, we have had lots of ups and downs but I have never intentionally hurt Mr K in anyway. And when we first started dating in 2024 he let me know, although he is an engineer by degree, he has an extremely low EQ. Overall, he is ok (not off the charts nice like other guys in...

I do make lists then get freaked out by how long they are.
The tasks seem endless sometimes...
Today I decided I would focus on one room.
It is filled with junk and debris.
I am going to clear it out and then I can move things out of my living area so I can clean the floors really well.
This alone will take me through tomorrow to complete.
I already put in about an hour and got a lot done.
When i get overwhelmed my escape is to crawl into bed and ignore reality.
I need to stay focused and not lose momentum.
Congrats on getting an hour;'s worth done. Breaking it down in small baby steps is the way to go. I was so overwhelmed with everything so I just started today by clearing the clutter off the dining room table. It's small, but it is progress.
One bite at a time!
Just a little bit each day will make a difference. Even baby steps will get you to a top of a mountain in time.
Smile :-)
When I totally bottomed out with my anxiety, I set really simple goals for myself. Like goal of day was to shower and sit on porch for fresh air. Another day, wash out sink and run dishwasher. I found when I didnt put demanding expectations on myself, I could usually do more but didnt criticize myself when I didnt.
It sounds like you have a really good attitude and are making sincere efforts. I'm sure you will move forward.
I did start getting that usual feeling of "it's too much, just forget it...."
but today knowing you guys are rooting for me I pushed through.
I just finished with cleaning out the room and tomorrow can move stuff in there
and clean all my floors in the living space.
I can't wait to feel the clean tile under my feet!!!
right now it is so full of clutter and i really need to do something about it....
so I am just doing a bit at a time...
and it helps to play music....relaxing music

Woohoo!!! Congratulations on your success!!! One thing I've done when everything in life is overwhelming is to put everything in life on my "To Do" list. It looks like Toad's list.: wake up, eat breakfast, get dressed...etc. but the more things I cross off, the more I realize I'm actually doing.
Best of luck to you as you wake to a new day!
Well...getting out of bed in the morning is probably the hardest thing to do.
I just want to stay here forever, and now I got a late start as usual
and will never get everything done before work...
This is how my days usually start.
Today is no exception BUT I'm gonna hang on to my little victory from
last night ;)
and I'm going to find myself another victorious moment today!
Thanx havalah, you reminded me how soothing music is to me when I have a task at hand.
I like tunes I can sing along to!
I'm very bad with links and such - sorry - but if you google 'A Slob Comes Clean", that will take you to her blog page, and you can subscribe to her daily posts if you'd like - she also has a general section about how to get started -
Congratulations on what you have accomplished already!

Anxiety can manifest itself in so many ways and feeling overwhelmed with EVERYTHING is one of them. I struggle with this quite often, the smallest thing seems huge to me. My husband always tells me to chill, but them again he does not suffer from anxiety. I have 4 children, so I have to force myself to get things done.
I think everyone's advice is wonderful and true. Taking baby steps is the best way. If you can get your house in order it will help you to relax a little better. I find that when my house is clean and organized my anxiety level decreases a bit.
You have already made huge steps toward your goal, so keep on going. You'll have your house in order before you know it!!
I suffer from anxiety too and have found talking to a psychologist, being on Lexipro ( generic version) helps. I have also been working out and meditating every day helps. Dr. Depak Chopra has a website that is doing a 21 day meditation challenge. Its all on the website and helps to teach you how to meditate and calm your mind and spirit. This support group also is a big help as well! Please take care of yourself and let me know if this works for you!
It makes such a big difference not to harbor this secret that has been weighing me down.
I really want to get a therapist but I just cannot afford it right now and I'm also nervous about talking about these things.
I feel safe here online.
Today I still have not cleaned the floors, because I worked (which in itself is a huge accomplishment.
I am going to start in a bit and hopefully not lose momentum and get it done before I feel like crashing.
