Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Hi everyone,
Just looking for someone to listen to me. My 14-year-old daughter struggles with severe anxiety and intrusive thoughts. This has been going on for quite some time and I have exhausted all of my resources and trying to get her some help. We have done in person counseling as well as online counseling. I feel helpless. I cannot help her and I want her to get better. She has lost the joy of every day life because her anxiety has overtaken her. Last night she told me something that has really resonated with me on how serious her mental health crisis is. She said "mom, I wish that I could tell a healthy person to just stop and appreciate life because I cannot. I would not wish these feelings on anyone." It was the first time I really realized how much pain she is in. It has broken me. Does anyone out there Have any suggestions for me? Any resources or free tools that she can use to help her cope? We are at the point now where we are thinking about starting her on medication to help her cope. Some thing that I have always been against but I also do not want her to suffer anymore so I am feeling very desperate. I worry so much about her and I worry that we haven't even reached the point in her life where she has dealt with any sort of major stressors like University or Or a break up or something else Trumatic in her life. I worry that when she does get face with something traumatic that she will not be able to cope.
Any Thoughts or any resources or any tips would be greatly appreciated for this desperate mother.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.

"don't be a hate hole" has been one of my recent mantras which seems to be escaping my mouth more and more often. it emerges when i am faced with the endless list of chores i would rather not deal with. insurance. head lice. bureaucracy. in-laws. the list goes on and on and on and on, ad infinitum.reality checks requested. am i making sense?"ever'thin they is but loving leaves a rust on your...

Help her to start doing instead of thinking.
Try an activity such as crocheting and/or knitting. This will help her to find calm with movement which helps to reduce anxiety symptoms and sensations fast naturally.
Anxiety is natural. It is a part of everyone. Learning how to make it work for your better balance is a process.
Practice calming breathing yourself to help you remain calm when you're helping her. The more calm you remain, the easier it will be for her to be calm.
Be in the moment thinking. Keep a private journal to release your feelings, thoughts, and emotions in a safe way.
You've come to the right place to vent, to learn, and to know that people who understand support and encourage each other.
Help yourself remain calm. Help yourself find ways to provide safe thoughts, safe words, and safe feelings. Share nature time with her.
Hopefully, healing happens for both of you. Best wishes.
I agree. Parent positivity is so important
I have a couple favorites that I love and believe they would be appropriate for a young lady.
My fave is The Anxiety Guy, Dennis Simsek. Just google him. He has a treasure trove of podcasts and youtube videos. He is very active on social media and does weekly live FB sessions. He did one today where you could ask hiim anything.
My other one is The Tapping Solution with Nick Ortner. He's active on FB and social media as well. They also have an app with all kinds of tapping scripts. Look into that and maybe you could tap along with her. If you don't know what it is, it is tapping on different meridian points of the body while speaking about your negative thoughts, then the positive thoughts to turn everything around. It is quite effective.
And of course, there's physical activity.
There are diversions and distractions from anxiety but they are not a cure. You really have to get to the root of the problem. The Anxiety Guy may help her do that. He will also answer FB posts and emails if you are wanting some particular material of his. He will send you a link.
I've tried different meds for anxiety but they did not work for me. It's a slippery slope treating teens with these meds as oftentimes they end up worse.
Good luck and let us know how these work out for her. Hoping for the best!
