Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. I called the doctor's office today to make my appointment to go for the mammogram that I need because she felt a lump in my breast. The doctor told me wait until after my period to make the appointment. I have an appointment for next month. I could be in the middle of my period by then I don't know. I just wanted to get this done becuase it's quite terrifying and I am just tired of this anxiety hanging over me. I got reiki yesterday and it helped a bunch but I can feel the edges creeping in on me the longer this is drawn out. I am telling myself that this is going to be okay since I have had a breast reduction and that reduces my chances of breast cancer and since both my mother and aunt have fibriocystic breasts and the condition is hereditary I am probably okay but it's that probably that's runing my life and cancer is so damn scary despite the many treatments that are available. I'm going to have to take a day off from work to go in for that mammogram as well because I will not be of any use to anyone else or myself on that day. I just want an answer and I probably won't get one on the day of the mammogram either I don't know how long it takes for results to come in but I will be having a mammogram and sonogram as well and I just want answers.

Sigh. . . No, the latest self-help books never seem to have sustainable answers, either. Sigh again. . . God, please grant me patience. NOW GODDAMNIT! ! !
Tapping my foot in rhythm to yours, Ms Moon. Are we done yet?
I went through something similar a few months ago, where I had to wait two weeks to see a specialist to see if I needed surgery. Was hell those two weeks, it was all I thought about 24/7. I searched online constantly and researched all about it... looking for any reassurance... not sure if looking online would help you feel a bit better, but maybe?
Also, since you are concerned that next month you may be on your cycle, is there a way that you can figure out when you definitely won't be on your cycle (say for example, after ending this next one, you know you'll have at least 2 - 2 1/2 weeks that you won't be on your cycle) and call them back and explain your worry and concern about waiting another month and could they change your appointment to a day that is sooner? Or if they could call you if they have a cancellation? I have found that when I express my concerns to the doctor's office, they are usually more than willing to accommodate me to an earlier date appointment that makes me feel better. I hope that can happen and that you can get in sooner. Best wishes to you and I think you are going to be okay. I can tell you from my experience of NOT needing any surgery, that I was SO relieved after it was over and then I felt great! I wish the same for you. Hugs.
