Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

This constant feeling of anxiety is wearing me down and I'm scared.
I'm searching for medical reasons why this may be occurring.
I have hypothyroidism but my levels are normal.
My endocrinologist started me on cytomel on top of the levothyroxine but it made my anxiety worse (possible side effect).
I'm starting to wonder if my adrenals are shot. I've been in a heightened state for many years now with my job (healthcare... Which is in a terrible state now) and family situations.
But over the last 4 weeks the anxiety has been unbearable. I've been grasping at anything: Klonipin (which I try not take more then a half of a 0.5 mg dose a day, flexeril (which I take for chronic low back pain... Nothing else ... I refuse the narcotics) and meclizine.
Exercise helps but lately it takes everything to get me to to so when before I would go to the gym 4 plus days a week. When I do force myself to exercise it only helps for about an hour.
I'm scared because I'm dropping weight like crazy and I just can't relax. I look forward to nighttime because I sleep and do t feel this terrible feeling
Anyone going/gone through anything similar?

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

I do know that i have to take .5 mg of Klonopin twice a day every day to approach the sort of calm where I can leave my house and go grocery shopping or be around people.
All i can think of is if your anxiety is this bad, perhaps you should up the Klonopin. it sounds like you're on a minuscule dose. Taking it twice a day every day tends to take care of things.
It's great that you're exercising, that probably helps. Have you tried yoga? it's a form of exercise you've probably heard of it that's very relaxing. Sometimes I'm just so anxious I have to do emergency yoga.
I'm not familiar with any of the other medication that you're on, but it is possible that the added anxiety is a side effect of that and an intolerable one thus something you would want to discuss with your doctor.
It is easy to do, too. I find a comfortable position, I quiet my self, and I let it go. Even if it's just for a few moments, it helps naturally.
Also, keep your hydration level up. Once you have overwhelming anxiety symptoms, it's so important to hydrate yourself to help the physical symptoms and sensations get back into their normal range.
Best wishes.
likely below the level that has any therapeutic value. Below that level
it has little or no effect. 0.5 mg is the smallest pill ,so you must be splitting them to get to that level.
Unless you are very small, like 90 lbs, or older , like 70 years old ,
.25mg will likely do nothing for you.
Its hard for a lot of us with anxiety to believe, but sometimes something as simple as stress or job issues can be enough to give us the same anxious reaction that other people would get from the death of a loved one.
If I were you I would treat this as stress related until your doctor finds a reason that it isn't. It can't hurt and it will probably actually help a great deal.
I would take as much of a time out from life as I could...rest...start taking frequent hot baths, do daily affirmations and muscle relaxation exercises...not engage in anything too stimulating i.e. no news shows or violence on TV. Take good care of yourself for a few weeks and see if that helps. Good luck to you. xoxo
