General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. I have been dealing with my anxiety recurring for the last week and a half. I had it under control before that and haven't had a panic attack in quite some time. Now it pops out at the most random times. For example, I was just lying in bed watching Friends and my cat jumped off the bed and I had to sit up and take a deep breath because I panicked and lost my breath.
I wasn't able to sleep last night for more than 10-20 minutes at a time. I would wake with a start like I stopped breathing. I decided to just stay awake for the day and hopefully get to bed at a normal hour tonight (please, God!).
I don't know what's causing my anxiety right now though. Last week I was able to pinpoint what was bothering me, and I guess it is still there, but it's not at the forefront of my mind. I feel helpless and out of control and don't know how to get a grip on this feeling.
Any suggestions?

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.
