Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. I have yet to finish a degree plan but more than one of the academic/psyche counselors who helped me give it my best shot assured me that knowing when to ask for help was one of the more important lessons in the university experience. Even history's meanest dictators maintained advisory staffs. It really does take a village to live a healthy life.
I hope you will feel free to vent and seek support here while you work your way through the last of the academic challenge. Welcome back.
I am sorry that you have gone through so much thus far and wish you well in completing school. I also want to say that going back for a 4th time shows me that you have tenacity, resilience and drive. All three of these, when dealing with all the things that you have had to deal with, really say a lot about you as a person.
I have struggled with anxiety and severe depression / PTSD for several years now and have had a struggle at times just being able to wake up in the morning. In fact, almost five years ago I was ready to just end it all. My wife convinced me to do two things that saved my life. First, she convinced me to go to hospital and get help with physical pain and depression. Also, and I would say more significantly, she really supported me in building my relationship with Christ. I was in the midst of the darkest valley I had ever been in and was clueless on how to get out. What I did was throw up my hands and just admit that I could not do it alone and needed Him. I started reading and meditating on the Bible, praying, and actively (as best I could in a wheelchair) worshiping and serving in a local church. My life is completely different now in the best way possible. I know that no matter what happens (my wife could leave me or something could happen to her or my kids, or I could lose all my friends), God "will never leave [me] nor forsake [me]" Deut. 31:6
Please know that I am praying for you. May God bless you,
Kevin
