Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. I hear sirens in my head.... then abort, abort! Our daughter came home on Wednesday and told my husband and I she was asked by her friends to go to prom with them. Our daughter is a sophmore and this is junior, senior prom. Sooooo, we get out and go to find her a dress. We ended up at Dillards before she found one that she liked and would fit. All the dresses have been picked over. Bam! $170. and a little change. Oh my goodness!! Then she has to have shoes and a sling bag. She has to have her nails done. Money going faster than they can print it.. I hate this!! If it was her prom, I would be rolling out the red carpet. Please don't misunderstand the situation. We find out on Wednesday and prom is on Saturday. No way to save up. No notice. Just guess what, I need, I need, I need.
I would not have so much of a problem with all this but, she will not, will NOT keep her room clean!! We told her today, (they were out of school due to a electrical problem) as soon as you get home if you are not working on homework then you need to be cleaning on your room. Boy she came up with something to do Real Quick! I just don't think that she respects us.
One of my granddaughters is coming to stay the weekend and that is just another thing on my plate. She is good but my Anxiety is NOT!
Whew! I just had to get that out!

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
Hope the venting helped. When it comes to living with teenagers, sometimes the venting is all we get. Where does the respect leave off and the need for independence begin? And that isn't even the only place life under the influence of adolescence gets murky. . .
It helps to have a safe place to vent. Gentle support while you sort. Welcome aboard.
My youngest is 34 now and I still haven't gotten over the $200 bats, plus uniforms, etc., etc. After a few athletic sign-ups, prom night felt cheap. Not even athletics and proms combined prepared me for college tuition. It wasn't my favorite part of parenting.
Vent away. . .
