Better read this fast because I bet this post will be deleted but not by me!!! I am so angry at the discharge planner at the local hospital!!!!! She bullied Mom into signing a DNR!!! Mom fell night before last and hurt her shoulder, sternmun and hip. No broken bones or internal injuries. She will recover just fine and expected to be out of rehab in a couple of weeks. She is there for the pain and get stronger. So this "woman" presents her with options of this paper now---why now??? Mom has had a Full Code and wants it that way. Mind you Mom was in pain, on narco, and with her hearing, she cannot read lips with the masks on all the time. This is so wrong!!! Is this revocable? Will this stand if Mom didn't know with all that was going on--understand what it meant? I have not had a chance to explain what that bitch did to her. When Mom gets home, we are going to see a lawyer!!! The bitch also said Mom should be on medicade, the state will take our house, all assets, and I will be on the street. I said NO!!! We do not want that. As if I didn't have enough to worry about, now this!!!

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
The mind fucky details that go into guardianship and death are? ? ? Ouchus maximus? ? ? Confusion contusing? ? ? Cruel, even without the duress of highly emotional health and family troubles. Mine are aesthetically different from yours because they involve premature deaths of the next generation and guardianship of orphans, but I solidly believe the circumstances are equals in mind fuckery. WTF does that even mean? Does this control freaky clerk have the final say?
We haven't gotten as far as hiring family lawyers, but we rely heavily on our caseworkers for interpretation and direction. We also reserve the right to get second, third and fourth opinions. More, as needed.
I hate lawyers, but sometimes ya gotta give the devil her/his due. Family law is far more complex than I care to do the research on. A call to a lawyer might not be a bad idea.

Lawyers are quite expensive. We are entangled with one right now due to some nasty neighbors.
If I were you, I'd write down everything that happened including dates and times as best as you can recall before time fades that information.
Then I'd make an appointment with hospital administration and discuss it. Take photo copies of any documents so you don't give up the original copies of anything you have.
Sounds like this could be reversed because this woman broke every rule in the book.

A discharge planner doing this needs to be reported to state agency and to federal agency who do oversight of hospitals in your area.
Write everything down, including your feelings, thoughts, emotions, and then, write another statement with just the facts.
What this does is to ensure that the facts are provided in a timeline that shows the discharge planner overstepped the boundaries, ethically and criminally, with elder abuse, due to the mask (elderly people have a hard time hearing low voices), and all the other things mentioned.
When you establish a balanced proof of evidence statement to the agencies, it's far easier to get the problem resolved in a positive resolution for your situation.
That information TypeC provided is so important in this case. There are no do-overs after you present your evidence (documentation, timeline, and standards of care, ethics, etc...).

Also, just for information, full code does NOT mean they will continue when it is deemed futile, nor does DNR and or DNI mean that they will not do anything to provide patient care.
However, this discharge planner saying your mom should be on medicaid is way out of bounds. It's not up to the discharge planner. That definitely needs to be reported.
