Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

When someone first starts taking medication for anxiety, it is also really helpful to be speaking to a therapist, psychologist, etc, to get to the root of what is causing the anxiety. The combination of medication and therapy is very helpful for most people who are just starting to get anxiety. Do you have a therapist?
When I tried Zoloft a few years ago, I started feeling less anxiety on the 28th day. I did end up switching to something else for other reasons, but actually I am going to start taking Zoloft again, because I heard it is an excellent medication.
I would suggest giving it 6 or more weeks. You have come this far, and by sticking with it you should see results in a couple more weeks.
I know it's hard, but you're doing great.
Again, keep in contact with your doctor regarding your symptoms. I know someone, who's doctor put them on 100 mgs, and they are doing great. The dose can be as high as 500 mgs a day for some people. Check with your doctor regarding your particular dosage. And try to be patient, I know it's hard to be patient with medications!
They probably prescribed Xanax "as needed"? It is a fast acting medication, you will feel it in less than 20 minutes, and it lasts about 4 hours (according to my psychiatrist).
Keep up the therapy. You're doing great!
And, some people have to increase their dosage really slowly because of the way zoloft works.
Keep a daily journal to help figure out what works when.
Best wishes.
I have a family member on 100 mgs Zoloft a day and she is living a completely normal life now with zero anxiety.
My psychiatrist says he prescribes up to 500 mgs per day.
Ask your psychiatrist what he/she wants you to do. Only your psychiatrist will know what dose is best for you.
Best wishes.
