Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I have to keep a journal, stay hydrated, practice breathing, and distract my usual thought pattern in order to do the best balance I can and stay in the moment.
You can do this.
I give it 3 days a pop. If you don't do anything stupid in the 3 days, it'll wind down. If you do something because you can't handle the pressure, you'll actually slip into the next attack without realising it.
So we can boomerang and bounce off our bad experiences and have them continue forever.
or we can stop, identify it, accept it as happening, promise ourselves we're going to do nothing, say nothing, arrange nothing, buy nothing, sell nothing in this time... no matter what the pressure.
No big decisions. No yelling or fighting with spouses or arguing with bosses. No telling off the kids or the workmates. You have to put yourself in lockdown for anything with emotional content.
If you can do this, I say 3 days. Your body will process those chemicals, and all the stuff going round your head for these days will seem, when looking back, to be a tiny bit loopy. That's good. That's where you need to get to. :D
You can have a 'chronic' base level that continues. So what I had to do myself, was to identify those causes of the base level, and change my life.
Without entirely ruining it by doing anything dumb during an acute attack.
If you look at how you live, how you handle people when they upset you, you might find some space in there. For instance all my life I could not tell other people off. Could tell my kids off but not anyone else. This was due to my upbringing and my mother - but who really cares, it still had to be overcome. I am now more able to just say the thing that needs to be said, and let others handle that.
Truth is another one for me. I think I had been in a bubble a lot of my life, and didn't really know what real people were like. Again, a mum bubble, total fairyland. Well that's all well and good, but I had to go through shock after shock after shock to realise how I was perceived, I wasn't a princess to the world, I wasn't some floating ethereal angel, women are not seen this way, we are not treated with kid gloves, it's a lot more like communist china, we have to get out there and sow the rice paddies with our bound feet regardless of our upbringing or expectations.
So lots of expectations had to be thrown in the rubbish.
So I had to become more humble, and more accepting. I had to learn that there is more than one right way to do things, and let go of my need to have everything done my way. I had to learn to be quiet, and not put my opinion forward.
Heh. Anyone on here who knows me will be laughing by now. Because I don't do any of those things on here. I'm very noisy. But I did have to learn to do it in the real world, to protect myself.
Other people aren't your friend. They're neutral. So if they don't like you, it's probably something you're doing. And if they do like you, that's also something you're doing.
Your life is your experiment. How to live that makes you not depressed. What causes depression, what causes anxiety. How to manage yourself and your relationships so that you don't get them. how to get out of them when you're in them.
