Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

On August 15th of this year, I suffered a major panic attack but after about 10 minutes I was fine. It happened around 3am when I was playing video games, so I ended up just calming down and going to sleep. I was ok for a few days after, and then all of a sudden I was crying constantly, shaking and panicking. I went to the hospital twice; once because my chest was really hurting, and the second time was to talk to a psychiatrist because I couldn't sleep, eat or function. I got 2 weeks off of work and I started my medication while staying with my parents for a few days.
Now, it's been over a month that I have been in a constantly anxious state. The medication has helped a lot. Tonight will be 1 month of taking the medication. I am able to work and function, but I constantly feel this weird on edge, breathless feeling. Sometimes I cry because im SO frustrated. I should mention that nothing triggered this. I have a great bf, work is good, very close with my mom... I just don't understand anymore. I am practicing mindfulness, seeing a therapist to discuss CBT and I contantly keep myself occupied... but it's like a dark cloud that will not go away. I'm trying to be patient and give more time for the medication to build up, but I'm just so tired mentally. I have been sleeping great on this medication but every morning I wake up and think "great, here we go again."
My symptoms are breathless, occasional chest pain (had tests done, no heart issues), feeling on edge CONSTANTLY and when I wake up I have internal vibrations.
I'm just looking for some support I guess. To know I'm not alone...

When i was in the ER February 16th 2025, i was being admitted to ICU where i was for 3 weeks, then had to relearn to walk for 3 weeks in another hospital rehab floor, the nurse told me something that made me feel for over 18 months now that i was finally *safe*. She told me that the guy who raped and beat me 21 years ago now almost 20 years at that time, was in prison as of a month before that...

Sometimes, I think I have ODD. I can be oppositional. It seems that the only times that I feel like cleaning are when I should be doing something else or I have to go somewhere. Well, not everytime but most of the time. Yesterday, I was supposed to be doing online training for work but instead, I decided to work on my kitchen table. Most of the time, I don't know where to start and give...

And I’m hoping you can heal Dana. I agree, we have to take it one day at a time. It’s so hard but I refuse to give up!
You've written it out. Continue to write it out and you'll be able to see the patterns of thoughts to help you find a natural better balance.
When you stop smoking and caffeine intake, you are forcing your body and brain to readjust their usual natural response to 'anxiety' helper status.
Stay hydrated. Practice even breathing in and out. Practice using stop, pause, breathe, repeat until calm and clear headed. These will help you through all the withdrawal symptoms associated with the change of no smoking and no caffeine intake.
Anxiety is your helper. Anxiety is natural. You are not alone. Best wishes as you find your better balance.
Generalized anxiety runs on both sides of my family and panic attacks/depression runs slightly in my family so I think some is genetic and was bound to happen. However I read the reviews of the birth control I was on and while 90% of them were good, I found several describing similar mental health issues that they had never had before. So I stopped that right away.
Are you on any kind of birth control? Also, I think more time on your medication will help too. It took about 4 months on mine to feel back to myself again.
Feel free to message me any time. Our stories are eerily similar. Best of luck to you!
I do take birth control. It’s the same one I have been on for over 10 years! I had issues with many other birth control in the past that made me feel very sick and depressed, but this one doesn’t do anything negative to me. When I first started having this terrible anxiety, I actually stopped taking it, but I feel like I was worse without it. When I started it again I felt like my hormones weren’t so out of whack!
