Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
It's so difficult to combat anxiety when it feels like nothing is going your way or the way you envisioned it to be. It sounds like you're getting anxious mostly when you're alone, so learning to be alone and stop your anxiety in it's tracks seems like it might start you on a path to healing. I know this is easier said than done.
I once read a self-help book which suggested actually writing worrying into your schedule. To give yourself a controlled 20 minutes a day or so to just sit and worry about everything, to help you put into perspective how much time you're investing in anxiety. Again, I know this is so much easier said than done, because it's hard not to let it take hold when things are nagging at you. But it might be something to try. Whenever you have a moment where you start to worry, tuck it to the back of your mind and tell yourself, "Nope. Not gonna think about that until 8 tonight." Or whenever you decide to use your "worry" time.
I hope that made sense and is something you'll consider.
Otherwise, welcome. I hope you find help and healing here.
My suggestion is to keep working the skill you started developing with this very post. Trust yourself to know when you are ready for your next step and what that next step should be.
Welcome aboard. Hope you find healing companionship here.
I’m sorry to hear about your struggles. I know how difficult it must be for you. I appreciate your willingness to connect with us here. Are you seeing a therapist? I’d suggest that you look for things to do to keep your mind off of your negative feelings. Maybe you could pursue an activity, sport, or hobby that you enjoy and that makes you feel good. Physical exercise has the added benefit of helping to relieve negative emotions naturally. Remember that you deserve to feel better. You can always come here to share, and we’re here to support you. Take good care of yourself. Sending hugs your way!
One of the hardest things to learn is that people who have not experienced anxiety's chaos truly believe that it's simple to move through it.
It takes determination, courage, bravery, and a lot of work to find the better balance after getting it whacked out of balance.
Best wishes!
