Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Hi everyone. I've just found this web site and joined this group. I do suffer from panic attacks but mostly in the middle of the night. I'll go to sleep ok then after about 2 or 3 hours sleep I suddenly wake up and have to get out of the house. I find that my house doesn't seem big enough and I have to go for a walk, sometimes a short walk, sometimes a long walk. My mind is thinking all sorts of things - ridiculous things actually once I calm down and think about it. But it doesn't matter how hard I try, I cannot stop thinking these things.
Now I've found this site, I'm hoping that an email/ message chat with someone else who may understand, will help me. Spoken to my doctor about this and he prescribe diazepam which do help. But perhaps chat with someone at the time of the attack may help better than pills. I certainly hope so.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.

Sorry to hear you are going through this. I too am dealing with anxiety and had my share of panic attacks. It definitely helps to talk to people who have had similar experiences. When did your panic attacks start?
You may find it helpful to try some calming apps like Headspace, DARE and some others throughout the day and when you feel the attack coming on. It may not work immediately but it helps to constantly expose yourself to helpful content like that to help you break out of the pattern.
If it is available to you you may also consider speaking to a therapist to get to the root cause of how your insomnia and the need to getting out of the house is linked to your anxiety and panic attacks. Do you live alone?
Sending love and support to you and confidence that you will pull through :)
I do feel though that this site will help me and hopefully once I get into things here, I may even be able to help others. I am sure that will do me a lot of good.
Thanks again for your replies and concerns.
Take care and stay safe.
Writing it out is the important first step.
