Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Hey everyone,
I hope you're all doing okay... this is an update.. but also maybe a cry for help/advice?
So anyways.. I graduated back in may with my master's! (Yay) but since then well there have been a few things. I was diagnosed with PCOS last week and put on medication to help with insulin resistance (family has a history of Type 2 Diabetes, as well as this med may help other symptoms with it) Anyways.. Umm.. my ask for help.. is if any of you have been on zoloft/sertraline... how do you cope with vivid dreams/nightmares? Have you found any way to minimize them/ get rid of them? Anything that helps? I'm a little like tired of having these dreams? It's annoying, but not like bad bad? But yeah...
I hope you all are taking care of yourselves and being gentle with yourself!

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.
I have not heard of nightmares while being on Zoloft. One thing you could try, is not to eat too late at night. I am not on Zoloft, but I have noticed when I am snacking on a bunch of stuff right before bed, I then get these nightmares. Every time. So I try to stop eating anything many hours before bedtime.
Anyway, something to try.
Congratulations on your graduation!
As Girl mentions, it's not the zoloft, it's your hydration and your menu activity that brings on those kinds of events in sleep.
I had to switch to an earlier cut-off time for food, and add more water to get my hydration consistent.
Here's to finding what works for you1
I don't have an answer, but wanted to say that I have seen a big difference in my dreams with this medication. I didn't usually remember my dreams before. Since taking this, it seems like my dreams never stop. I keep dreaming about pretty mundane things that are going on in my everyday life and sometimes I get confused as to what happened and what didn't. The other night I had a dream that I went and got a shirt that my son had asked for and I had to sit and think for a minute if I actually got the shirt or not. Weird.
For me the dreams are not bad, so it doesn't really bother me. I don't know if there is anything you could do? The only thing that I can think of is to try taking it at a different time of day.
Hope it gets better for you!
My son was on sertraline long ago and he did not have bad or vivid dreams. You can look up this med on the government website called "Daily Med" through the NIH and read up about it. Click on all the little listings going down until you find the research on side effects. It might be a side effect that is not that common. Otherwise, I wonder if taking it in the morning rather than evening might help. I am now using an electrolyte drink without sugar but with stevia called Ultima that you can get in health food stores or on Amazon. I drink one per day and it helps cut my constant thirst. You might also look up the insulin resistance med you said they put you on and see what the side effects from research might be. If you try several things and they don't work, talk to your prescriber.
Hope you're doing okay
Dreams can be so weird
I've been on SSRI's since 14 (I'm now 22). I was on Zoloft until 2020 and have been on Lexapro since. How long have you been on Zoloft? I remember having super vivid and weird dreams but I feel like they've decreased over time. I noticed they definitely increased with stress and if I watched or thought about wacky stuff before bed.
Congrats on your master's! I'm planning on graduating with bachelors this may (:
