Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Hey everyone, it’s turning out to be a bad night. I’m on the verge of an attack. I hope I can talk myself down. It’s like I knew something bad was going to happen because things where going good. I don’t have anyone to talk with and everyone in my house is asleep. I’m afraid I might not wake up. That I’m so anxious I might have a heart attack. I know I’m overthinking it but it’s hard not to. I’m depressed on top of this so that doesn’t help either. I’m not thinking of doing anything crazy so don’t worry about that. It’s just I wish there was someone to talk to and help calm me down. Every time I see light at the end of the tunnel, something else happens. This has taken all my strength, I feel so weak physically and mentally that I’m frozen. All this time why didn’t I take care of this. I’m so embarrassed and ashamed. I don’t want to give up, I want to be happy and was fighting for it. Now that I reach down for that strength and courage it’s not there. Let me apologize now for probably posting many post tonight, It’s only 11 at night and I doubt I’ll ever be able to fall asleep.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
Talking *myself* down seldom worked for me. It has been quite allot of years since I have even attempted it. My anxiety attacks tend to be so wordy inside my head that more words feel like throwing more water at a drowning victim. When somebody else talks me down, I think it is the grounding connection with another human which calms me far more than the words they use to reach me. I suspect my therapy supporters could just hum at me and the effect would be the same. Maybe. . . I'm not sure any of my therapy supporters would volunteer to test the theory.
Did your tactic of venting here while searching for grounding exercises help? I hope so. Steadying support while you find what works for you, Don. Hope tonight finds you with a quiet mind ready to let your body get some restorative rest.
Night anxieties suck, both literally and figuratively.
I pray for strength to keep you going. Take care and God bless.
By any chance, are you the Horst of Soullllll Train? Only kidding.
I used to have those feelings, especially, at night.
What I found that helps me is getting my life organized. No kidding, When there are so many tings on my mind that I need to do, it is like a loop in my head. And, it is overwhelming to hear it pounding away at me.
A few of my doctors recommended anti-depression/anti-anxiety meds - the most mildest forms but I had a reaction to all of them. It actually made it worse.
Seeing a therapist who tried biofeedback on me, helped tremendously. Abdominal breathing helped a lot. Getting my ducks in a row (or close to it) was a very big help. Learning to let go of the “small stuff” helps, too. Nervous can be a chemical thing, too - I highly suggest a physical with many blood tests to see if something is off balance. I found out over 20 years that I was walking around with a thyroid problem - go figure. It explained a lot of things, especially, the anxiety.
Instead of laying back and allowing the anxiety to get to you, be proactive and find the cause. Anxiety IS self-inflicted BUT there is always something behind it.
I hope you are feeling better. A nice epson salt bath with magnesium sulfate is VERY calming. Take a bath and have a nice cup of Sleepytime tea (chamomile and peppermint) - it’s quite calming. Feel better.
