Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Not looking forward to group therapy.
I only have it ounce a month (and to be fair I've been "sick" *fake sick* so as to skip it the last 3 times.
I just get so nervous even thinking about it. I usually try to stay quiet and just listen....I'm not comfortable at all talking. But the leader of the group enviably will insist I talk at least a little. I don't want to. I don't feel comfortable or safe.
I know everything said in group is supposed to "stay in group". But I don't know these other 6 people. I only see them ounce a month. And two of them talk A LOT. Like they can't be quiet and let others say anything.
One talks really really loud. So much so that it actually scares me. (Loud talking shouting, cursing scares me -long story- she's actually really nice.... just so loud.
I know the whole point is to learn and practice speaking out loud and work on my social anxiety in a "safe and controlled environment" I understand that.
I just don't like it.

Everyone should get a turn to speak.
Even if you speak alittle about yourself that's a big step. You don't have to tell them your whole life story.
Just talk about what you feel comfortable with. Tell them about the wedding you went to.
Good luck!! You can do this!!!!
Hugs
psychotherapy is not about what i like/want. it is about what i **need** to heal. my preference is to wake up tomorrow with a different past and the social skills of a well-raised adult.
sigh. . . onward through the injustice. . .
for what it's worth
learning how to relate to and respect people as sick as i am was a tremendous breakthrough to loving myself, broken spots and all.
and it took many months for me to say anything. And then I still hardly talked at all. Just start out saying things that don't matter much. The hard work is worth the help it will give your life.
You are right that if there are gossipers you want to be careful what you share. We can still share some things just not our personal secret things. If the topic that day was grief, for example, you could share that you liked the topic and learned more about grief.
Just avoid giving anything big or major in your life. And consider telling the facilitator or leader that you have heard X and Y gossiping about people in the group. You know these people better than I do so take all this with a grain of salt. Some support groups are simply not helpful due to a facilitator that is poorly trained or leading from their ego.
But some support groups can change people who are willing to listen and then think about things and maybe change some things they need to change.
Doing the hard things can help us grow and overcome our difficulties in life. We won't change what we need to change until we decide we want to do the hard work. Attending group is the hard work aspect.
