Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I'm feeling so much anxiety. Used to think this was under control with meds and the counseling I had. A couple of things - I've been watching 600 lb life while calling clients from home. I had weight loss surgery 6 years ago and did well. Then .... I started to get attention from men that I wasn't used to. Backstory - was molested by my Dad and mistreated by husband. Living on my own since 1996. Very little sex - life revolved around my young children. Mom & Dad had both passed away. No family in contact with me. Have learning disability and depression. I'm "not good enough" for them. I had migraines also frequently. Anyhow, I regained 15 lbs and realized I need to work on healthy eating. But use chocolate and sweets to relieve stress. So I began healthy eating. Now I'm very stressed without that outlet. On top of that, my daughter, the only relative who talks to me, is in love. That's a good thing! He's a wonderful man with a nice family. Unfortunately he lives in the next state. They met at work, then he moved home for his dream job. I'm happy for her but panicking. I'm not a great driver. Very nearsighted so peripheral vision is lousy. I feel like the joy is going out of my life. I enjoyed helping her with little things. Am also attached to her kitties, since they lived with me a couple years until she had a stable job situation and accumulated things for her apartment. I can't afford a pet of my own. Very low income. Am trying to practice mindfulness and distress tolerance. Right now I want to bake chocolate chip cookies. Arghhh!

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
You've taken the important first step in writing it out.
The biggest change in weight loss surgery, and the maintenance afterwards, is to heal the mind of the hurt, the pain, the loss associated with those memories.
In writing in a journal, it provides you a track to work through the words, feelings, thoughts, and emotions in a safe way.
Best wishes as you find your better balance and recover your healing path.
You sound like a strong person. Thank you for sharing your story. Very inspiring, and it shows us that in the face of adversity, beautiful lives can be created - your children and good can come from bad situations.
I can feel the love you have for your daughter. It will be hard to not have her near, but instead of focusing on what you will lose - focus on what you could possibly gain.
It's wonderful that she is with a healthy and kind person. Their union, could result in some grandchildren! You would get an opportunity to travel a bit, but maybe with some assistance. Perhaps you could move closer to her? I would try to focus on the positive that could come from this, and share in her joy.
As for you...this could be an opportunity for you to bring some new energy into your life as well. Maybe a new pet, some changes to your personal space, or learning something new that you've always wanted to try?
I sometimes watch My 600 lb life too. If you're a sensitive person like me, watching that show doesn't do much for my mood. LOL. It hurts me to watch how much pain those folks are going thru, their traumas, their struggles, and their addictions.
You've lived thru that. You don't have to keep reminding yourself about those struggles every day by watching that show. LOL. You need to watch something more uplifting.
What we see, read, or listen to definitely has a contributing factor to our mood,
You gained 15 lbs...it's not too much weight. You can lose that if you wish. You are not on the same struggle to lose 400 + pounds like these individuals.
Look...sweets are delicious. A little chocolate here or there isn't going to hurt you. Just factor it in to the total amount of calories you are consuming each day, and don't overdo it.
Long time dieters will tell you they didn't completely give up their sweets...they just gave up the huge amount of it they were eating before, and keeping the calories accounted for.
You are a survivor, and a thriver. Just make some small changes, and focus on the positive and I think your anxiety can definitely ease up.
Sending you light and love!
