There is room for all kinds of friends, old friends and new friends. The really good friends will always be there but they have lives to live as well. Conversely maybe they feel the same way as you, that things are not the same.
If you are particularly close to one of your friends maybe it’s worth reaching out and discussing your feelings. Might bring you closer.
I know a lot of people in different ways. Some people I thought were friends were actually acquaintances who are friendly.

I didn't have any confrontations after the first one went badly. I went with the idea of just sharing the current moment with some other people and realized the connection we had was no longer the same, so the new balance was easier to work with.
Then we get to the awkwardness of resuming social encounters after I've had a psychotic break. Ouchie papa. . . I wasn't exactly a social butterfly before the break, so it is, indeed, hard. Much harder than I recall elementary socializing, even as the new kid in the sandbox.
