Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Hello everyone, this is my first post.
My best friend for the last 5 months or so would usually call or text me just about every day of the week. 2 weeks ago, we hungout and everything was fine, but since then, I haven't heard from him. I tried texting him and called him once, but I got no answer. I just wanted to check in with him because this was not normal, but I did not want to stress myself out over this or make myself look clingy to him. I couldn't take it anymore and did not know what to do, so I reahced out to a mutual friend who said I should stop overthinking this and relax, that he has just been extremely busy lately. That's a red flag to me because it sounds like our mutual friend and my best friend have been in touch, but he chooses to not reach out to me now. The only message I got from him was him wishing me a "Merry Christmas", and even at that, I sent him a snapchat that day, which he still hasn't opened, yet I see his score increasing, meaning he's sending/receiving snaps from others, but not opening mine. I guess I am just annoyed with how much anxiety this situation gives me because I did not do anything wrong, but I feel so stressed as if I did something and lonely becasue I dont know what to do. Does anyone think there's a logical explanation for my best friend's actions and lack of communication? I talked to my therapist today about this and told me I did nothing wrong that this is just him and it is not my problem, but I am still concerned and feeling lonely, since he's my best friend I dont feel as close to anyone else as I do to him.
Thanks everyone,

I wonder if he was somehow hurt or upset with something you said the last time, though unintentional as it was.
So let him. You are clearly quite obsessed about him; that would be very wearing on the receiving end. So find some other stuff to do and while away some time till he has had his rest from you, and he can come back to you in his own time. :)
Take a break from the pattern of thought and try something different. Talk to other people, and be open to "listening" to listen, not how you respond and feel.
With anxiety markers showing high levels, it becomes more important to choose to be calm, open, peaceful, and positive in responding to texts and snapshot. I do not do snapshot, but I do text,
I have found myself using short, sweet, and simple texts to return texts that I do not want to be involved with.
Just because you share something with someone does NOT mean they must respond. You can change your response and your reaction and it will change others' response and their reaction because the usual response no longer fits.
Best wishes.
Your therapist is right. We may not able to control every situation, but we can control the way we respond to it.
When a friend stops communicating, it can be sad and devastating. I want to encourage you to grieve because you have loved your friend and you had good memories with him, forgive and try to move forward. I know losing a friend can be heartbreaking but you have reached out to him many times, maybe it’s time to accept it and try to move on. I hope this helps and you will feel better soon.
I pray for peace and comfort that you need to overcome this situation. I also pray that you will have more friends who can be with you at all times. Thank you for sharing. God bless.
