Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I am so glad to find a website like this where I can interact with others that are struggling with similar things!
I've been unemployed for the past four months because of my anxiety (I am diagnosed with GAD). It has been snowballing and is now worse than ever. Whenever I go to a job interview or try to work, I can't. There's been four times where I got a job, had a huge panic attack before the first shift, and end up not going to that job. At the most recent job I got, I ended pushing through and working a shift, but I felt so anxious and sick the entire time. It was hard for me to learn and focus on what I was being taught. The next day, I tried to go in again, had a panic attack, and stayed home. This makes me struggle finacally and I've been depending on the help from my parents and boyfriend. I feel like sometimes they think that I just don't want to work. I do want to work so bad. I'm so tired of sitting at home all day with nothing to do because I've already done it a trillion times. But whenever I try to work, I think my huge panic attacks pulls me into a deeper depression. After my most recent one, my boyfriend motivated me to get help, which I did, but my mental health appoitment isn't until the middle of October. I need to make changes now, but this is all so hard to do. I get 4-5 hours of sleep every night and always wake up with stomach aches. My appetite is barely there and I've lost quite a bit of weight. I've been trying to get better ever since I noticed how bad it was, but at this point, I really don't know what's best for me to do.
If any of you have something useful that helps you in these situations, please share!

Alas, I still haven't found a *cure* for my own anxiety and the tricks and tips I use to manage it are more than I have the attention span to type, even if you have the attention span to study all that information. I don't know about you, but anxiety wreaks havoc on my attention span.
Support groups, like this one, are what help me the most. Instead of studying all those tricks and tip ahead of time, I share about my anxiety of the day with my peers in whichever of my support groups is available and clicking for me on that particular day. I keep up with a variety of support groups to give me a better chance of finding the trick or tip I need when I need it.
So? ? ? How 'bout it? ? ? Did sharing here help any? Share freely. Share often.
Welcome aboard.
Are you doing breathing exercises (breathe in slowly counting to 4, breathing out to the count of 5), as often as possible throughout the day. Also, Xanax is a wonderful supplement for those times when the anxiety starts to consume you.
But, I find that being able to chat with others is tremendously helpful. You are not alone!
All I can think of is look into any work from home jobs, such as online jobs?
Welcome to DS and hugs to you.
I have been trying breathing exercises, but most of the time, it's hard for me to focus on them. When I'm panicking, I think that my worrying thoughts are more important than anything else. Breathing exercises and meditation are things I'm trying to get in the habit of doing.
I have looked into online jobs in the past, but didn't feel like I was qualified for them. I can always look again though.
I have done this before. Hang in there!!
