Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Tomorrow is the zoom court hearing which everyone had hoped would officiate the "Case Closed" stamp on the custody case surrounding my 3 orphaned grandchildren, ages 7 and younger. It appears that would be everyone except my departed son's in-laws. They have a litigous history which has us in fear of yet another legal manuever. I'm as anxious as a germaphobe in a petri dish. Please, God, let us have at least a modicum of closure in this long, painful drama.
Separating my feelings from my facts remains a critical part of my daily therapy maintenance. At my first psychotherapy appointment in 1972, the concept was new to me and more alien than the surface of Pluto. It remains a somewhere between a mystery and a challenge nearly half a century later. Still, it works if I work it, even when I work it on faith instead of knowledge.
Sometimes my feelings are facts. Some days I am so deep into emotions that I am talking to people who are not there, walking into walls, tripping over my own feet, etcetera, etceteri. On these days I wrap a rosary around my wrist, letting the crucifix dangle from my wrist to remind me that my emotions are running high and affecting everything I do.
Am I making sense? Reality checks needed.
Again I leave the mood icon on the rapid cycling median.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

Here is to finding peace today and getting some closure tomorrow.
Your description of wearing a rosary around your wrist with the crucifix dangling reminds me of some of the imagery in the Ann Sexton poem “With Mercy for the Greedy.” I haven’t thought about that poem in decades. Thank you for that.
I think with the in-laws they are probably afraid they may never see or hear about the grandkids.
Of course I have no clue if they are good people who truly care or simply those who enjoy drama and causing it. Whatever the case.... I would like to think that in the end...the facts and your actions of stepping up and putting the needs of those little ones so high on your priorities should tell them something.
I want to have faith. (And if any demons try to convince you otherwise....tell them to shut the he'll up. Lol) and I do also pray that tomorrow does lead to some closure.
It's difficult when you have relatives of the children not putting the children's welfare first.
Here's prayers that 'case closed' will the result for the hearing.
I believe the in-laws are, indeed, afraid of being forgotten in this ordeal. We are, too. They lost a sister and daughter in the same traffic incident that took our son. Can you give children a greater gift than free and easy access to both branches of their family tree? Our farm is a 3 hour drive north of their inner city apartment and their personal handicaps are enormous.
In November, the DA office took the considerable time to mediate a settlement between CPS and the two families. Nobody knows why the in-laws are procrastinating.
I'm not expecting full closure. The death of a son and the start of a second parenting career at 65 are not likely to find full closure, ever.
But closing the court cases that started with protective custody of their beloved children and snowballed even more fiercely with the deaths of devoted parents feels like a chapter worth stamping, "Case Closed." It's been a long and hard trail of tears for all involved. Can we move on with confidence and blessings now?
