Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I work 3 days a week and go to grad school the other 2 days a week...
I haven't had any real issues with my anxiety in about 4-5 years, I was doing really well on my dose of zoloft.
Then, I had 2 really hard deaths to process at the end of 2019. One was more expected, but the other was incredibly sudden and left me feeling very low.
Then, I saw a new endocrinologist in Jan and they signed me up for all these blood tests and such and they diagnosed me with PCOS and possible sleep apnea. Sleep has always been a trigger for my anxiety and now I'm worried about my sleep apnea so much, I find it hard to fall asleep. Daytime tiredness isn't helping with my anxiety managment either. I have a sleep study scheduled for the 27th and I'm trying my best to stay calm until then.
But on Tuesday morning this week, I had a panic attack and had to call off work. I messaged my PC doctor and she prescribed me clonazepam to take as needed at nighttime...I'm really hesitant to take it since it seems so strong.
But this morning on my way to work, I had another panic attack while driving and I had to pull off the road. I was pretty scared. I wanted to just go home but my job isn't too keen on me skipping so much work.
I just don't know what to do. I feel so awful and silly for being so anxious about almost nothing. And I feel even more awful that I was doing so well for so long and now it all has come crashing down on me worse than before. I don't know if talking to a therapist would help but I don't know what else to do to get over this...

Two hard deaths are enough to trigger anxiety, et al, in a marble statue. Grief is a hard process that yanks on every emotion in the human spectrum. It is ALLOT to process and healing takes time. Leaning on more than one source of support can make the journey easier. Still not easy, but easier.
Steadying support while you work the process. Hope you will feel safe to lean freely here. Welcome aboard.
Processing death hits hard on the body, brain, and feelings. Writing it out helps heal the balance so you can function normal range on tasks in the moment at work.
Anxiety works for you, and you're on the right track to help yourself manage those panic attacks. The more you are aware of your potential feelings, the better you are prepared to move them into the balance so you can continue with the daily tasks.
Sleep...let it go. If you're not getting enough, then practice calm during wake time. Stay hydrated.
I know it's hard to look at this as healthy, however it is. You're facing the loss front on, good for you.
Yes, it came out awkwardly, panic included, and so you know you're feeling it.
Sorry for your loss, and best wishes with your healing.
Sounds like you have a lot to deal with. But you can do it. Clonazepam is a good medicine, in my opinion. It makes you feel drowsy and more calm, so you can sleep. If you think the dose is too high, call your doctor's office and ask them if you can take a half a dose to start. It should help you to feel more calm and get the sleep that you need. Good luck.
