Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

i thought i'd try experimenting with a thread to discuss our "daily wellness rituals." i use quotation marks because that is my personal name for the therapy tools i've incorporated into my daily life to help manage my symptoms and maintain a healthier stability.
testing, 1, 2, 3. . .
every morning i take a personal inventory of my physical and mental health. am i feeling physically fit? if not, what can i do to feel better? are intrusive thoughts distracting my awareness of the here and now? insert awareness here. . . are any other psych symptoms present. i shoot for a gentle inventory. it's okay to be a few fries short of a happy meal, as long as i am mindful in managing the symptoms.
wanna play? what's in your morning?

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
"Every morning I.....
take my anxiety medication, eat a banana and a blueberry yogurt, take my vitamins. Drink a lot of water. Then get ready for the day, usually leaving about one hour later. I don't want toooo much time to dilly dally around, or my anxiety might start setting in. Better for me if I get dressed and ready, and get out of the house for the day as soon as possible."
I still need to figure out a way to manage my “wake up” anxiety.
i hope everybody feels welcome to answer more than once. i believe this is a topic worthy of developing. how i start my day colors the entire day.
Getting up
Not sure what's worse
Going to sleep or getting up
for my psycho nickel, the going to sleep is far, far worse, especially during the nightmare/terror phases. that pesky hyperactive metabolism provides enough physical energy to make it feel far more sensible to go looking for a fight.
I’m not like a Suzy Sunshiney, rainbows and lollipops kind of person but I think there is something to be said for taking a moment first thing in the morning and consciously feeling gratitude for getting to see another day.
Otherwise, it’s really easy when you first wake up to automatically default to negative thinking once you developed that habit.
But alas, I’m a morning person so that might help.
Great convo starter, Arfie!
i'm a 24/7 gal, myself. every hour of every day has a special charm to my senses. what hours i am awake or asleep depends entirely on where the action is. when i was working night shifts and routinely waking in the afternoon, i still called that first flutter of waking, "morning."
whatever hour i start my day, those first minutes of wakefulness will still color my day.
Hopefully everyone is doing well
life is a complex web.
i think i'll try using "wake-up" in place of "morning." it accommodates the 24 hour day far more comprehensively. maybe? testing, 1, 2, 3. . .
every wake-up i __________
sing a song to welcome the day. on a stormy day, i greet the day with a stormy song. i sing sad songs on sad days. today is a school day and early enough in the school year that we are still working out the kinks of the new academic year.
i don't know, but i've been told
each new day is made of gold
just make it up as you go along
'cause each day is a brand new song
Could be gold, could be fools gold
