my 71st birthday is next month. don't try to tell me i'm to old to try new things. i can't remember the last time i had a profie who was older than i, but i still love learning. it's a good day when i learn something new.
I used to always say I have no regrets or wouldn’t change anything because each decision led to my life and the people in it now. I still believe that but as I get older I realize that’s sort of fodder for my ego. Saying I have no regrets feels somewhat disingenuous. Because I certainly regret not taking more care and time with some people. I regret, even if it was to protect myself, hurting some people. I regret not spending more time with people I loved who are no longer here.
So to me I don’t think regretting some things is inherently negative or even a cause for angst. Just more about self awareness and reflection, and living well despite those regrets.
I am not one to think too much about what could have been or the past. I usually tend to focus more on the present and future By doing so I feel like everything is kind of a do-over in a way because who wants to be defined by coulda, shoulda, woulda, you know?
