General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. It depends on the situation how I handle it but here is a couple of things I do: I try and follow the what ifs through with answers..something my counselor taught me..sometimes putting an answer reduces the fear. If it's health related ...like what if I get sick at work and pass out. I say..then a co-worker will help me. I have even gone to people and said I am having anxiety about this...if I pass out I appoint you to take care of me. I'm not sure if I am explaining very well...sometimes it helps. Otherwise, I distract myself, get busy with something ..even if it's a dumb mindless video game..to stop thinking about it.

I am the worst about freaking out over all the "what if" possibilities in my life. The struggle is real! I am constantly having to work hard at staying in the present and not buying into all the "what ifs." I've found that whatever happens is generally not nearly as bad as the "what ifs" I had built up in my head. The more I realize that, the easier it gets to remind myself of that and allow myself to practice patience and wait on the "what is" and just deal with that one reality rather than lose myself in the endless list of "what ifs." Wish you all the best!
