Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
i have been struggling with anxiety and panic attacks for a few years. When it began I saw a general physician who just gave me Ativan and xanax which helped. Then we moved cities and I saw an actual therapist and nurse practitioner who prescribed me lexapro and xanax daily then suddenly 5 months into therapy the office shut down. So I ask my OB/GYN to refill my meds for me - she will only fill lexapro. Not the xanax. Which at that point I'd been taking .5mg daily and I've read you cannot quit xanax cold turkey. I worked at a vet hospital so in the mean time my boss just filled my xanax rx (I know I shouldn't have been doing that but it was the only option at the time). But now I no longer work there, am running out of xanax, and having a very difficult time with my anxiety and attacks for a few weeks now.
Today - called a general physicians office they can't see me for a month and when I said I was having panic attacks the lady immediately said OH we do NOT prescribe any medications for that (what?!) I explained I want blood work and thyroid testing to see if it is something hormonal or physically wrong with me. Called my OBGYN she's booked til next week and she prob won't give me meds either. Called a new psychologist office and had to leave a message. WHY IS IT SO HARD TO FIND A FREAKING DOCTOR TO JUST TELL ME WHATS WRONG WITH ME AND THEN FIX IT?!

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.

"don't be a hate hole" has been one of my recent mantras which seems to be escaping my mouth more and more often. it emerges when i am faced with the endless list of chores i would rather not deal with. insurance. head lice. bureaucracy. in-laws. the list goes on and on and on and on, ad infinitum.reality checks requested. am i making sense?"ever'thin they is but loving leaves a rust on your...

I wrote a post out, here, but lost it when my PC timed out. Am almost aggrevated -- and don't have energy to recall it all and write it again.
After three crises over the cvourse of 50 years, maybe I can discern a pattern which has given me, more or less, results. Make noise, but not enough that ppl get rattled and call the men in white coats -- they don't get rattled and make a phone call that gets me off their backs. ...
I wish I could go into that more, but am really tired.
Okay here is an option which, in the town where *I* am located, might work:
Go to the ER (where by the way they'd give me a temporary tranquilizer, 1 dose right there) and tell 'em I want to check into the psych ward. They'd say no of course, but then they want to get rid of me (the patient) and if I don't want their pretend-intervention...well I'm going to stay.
I really don't need to be in the hospital; I'm ambulatory**. But maybe someone will start getting serious about me. Maybe they will call up, will pull some strings, and get me in SOON.
Which is the whole idea. Right?
** Footnote: look up "ambulatory", a medical term. It is abstract. Means something along the lines of minimal coping ability
Other comments recently here on this forum, on enjoying good, hot food and on finding a way to enjoy exercize deserve reading. Of course this season is one of stress..
** look up this medical term.
I wonder if, with an appointment coming up for a one-time visit to a p-doc, you could write up what you want. I forget, Xanex? With your note, include documentation of your previous prescriptions for it. If your previous doctor(s) can be found, a telephone number for him/her/them. Even a one month supply might get you through to... well two months at most, then some spring will be here.
Warm weather is a less stressful time. Even early, early spring is where signs of hope are to be seen

I've worked in pharmacy for many years now. There are many problems with how you're going about this.
First of all, your first doctor shouldn't have given you 2 different drugs in the same class at the same time to treat anxiety without also giving you an SSRI or something. Even though you moved, your medial records are accessible online, and doctors and pharmacists, with consent to treat you, also have consent to check reports about controlled substances that you've been prescribed / had scripts written for for the past 3 or so years (easily) and within a certain number of states radius of where you are. It varies by state law. So, if your first doctor was double dosing you on those, that looks really bad.
Second, gynecologists normally won't write for those drugs....not if your mood issues are not strictly related to PMDD or other gynecological issues. If you're having panic attacks that frequently, it's not a once a month period thing. So, it's not in the scope of practice for your gyno to be writing those.
Your best bet is to get in with the GP and get a referral to a psychiatrist who can help you get on a regular medication regimen so you can stop taking the highly addictive sedatives, right?
And yeah, totally illegal for a vet to write any meds for a human. That whole practice should be shut down.
